I saw the cats on tv and I was so excited to hear about them. However, when I heard the price. . . I wasn't so excited. In the long run, I think I'd rather spend thousands of dollars on something more worthwhile. . . like a car! It's much cheaper to be treated for the cat allergy via allergy shots and medication (both of which can be covered under health insurance) than to buy one of those hypoallergenic cats.
The company that does this has a really great thing going. . . but they're not really going to make an impact on the allergy-ridden people of the world. Their high costs make them only attainable to the select millionaires in the world who need a hypoallergenic cat.

I think it's a fantastic idea and one day when I live in an apartment or house big enough to have pets I am going to buy one. I love cats, but my allergies keep me from having one (Okay, apart from the space problem.)
If you are wondering about the ethics of breeding animals to suit our convenience it is way too late to start worrying about that because humans have been selectively breeding domesticated animals for tens of thousands of years. The kinds of cats, dogs, cows, etc. we have today are all the result of human intervention.

I think it's kinda cruel but i can understand why they would want to make something like this.Did you know that it was not the actual hair on a cat that makes people allergic, but it's the spit they use to clean themselves, interesting hey.I'm allergic to cats but I wouldn't spend that much money just for a cat!

I think it's a scam. It also makes me nervous. If they can genetically mutate animals and pass it off as acceptable, how long is it before the same is done with humans?
