First he would have to get past a very protective mama... But if u r that worried then u should keep him seperated.. Infact it's a good idea to do that anyways.. The mama doesnt need the stress of the male this close to delivery.. She should have a nice safe nest to do her thing that is isolated from everyone and pets... Use a kids plastic pool and a bunch of blankets with fresh water and food for her... Keep her monitored because you may need to assist in the birth helping to remove the birth sacks for mama and ensure that the pups get to breathing ok.... It's guna be a long few nights for ya, but fun fun with the new little ones..! Good luck!

There are two issues here:
1. the father eating all sorts of thing: well he has to be disciplined or you will find that he might eat something non-digestible and which cause obstruction in his intestines (eg polythene bags, fish and chicken bones etc).

2. The Male dog if the father normally has nothing to do with the pups and avoids them like a plague, the female will also not appreciate his coming near the litter as it is constituted as a threat, so please ensure that the male is kept away from the litter.

At times the male does snarl at the pups when he finds himself harassed but a little No No will do the trick.

Ok, the dog is either nervous, or just starting a stage to give anger out, it is also possible that he might be gathering food for his mate. (Wolves would do the same) Either way, if your dog is well trained, then he'll stop when the puppies are born. If the puppies are born, and if he tries to snap at them for no reason, then tell him to stop. It should stop shortly after the puppies are born. ^_^

I don't keep my males near the female when she is giving birth and a few weeks after the birth of the puppies.

Keeping him in the same location may stress her out she will lash out and attack him or eat or kill her puppies.

She needs to be in her own room.

keep him away from the pups....the mom will probably put him on the run if she does not trust him...... And be sure not to let him near her again until you get her fixed...he can rape her and mess her up...... And that is a sad thing to see...... make sure to spay and neuter your pets!!!!!!!

The male should not be near the pups until they are ready to be weaned.

i dont think you need to worry...the mother probably wont let him near them anyhow...moms are very protective of there babies..as with all animals..and humans....he will be a great dad...when the pups are getting a bit bigger...you see!!
