Today I hit the car when I backed my car. I just assumed no damage and left without leaving contact information. The police found me and gave me a tickets for hit and skip. I regret for not being aware the severity of accident. I have noticed my insurance company.
Can anyone tell me the possible penality with only minor scratch? And what should I do in court to minimie my penalty.

I am in Ohio.
I have already contaced my insurance company and will be fully reponsible for my fault.

Can anyone know what types of penalty would be?
Will the owner show on the court?
What should I do to reduce my penalty to only pay fines?

You have probably confessed to the officer and have clearly confessed to the insurance co.

Make retributions to the car owner quickly, and get receipts.

Then be forth-coming with the prosecutor, and seek mercy. If you show regret, bear responibility, the prosecutor could easily drop all penalties, and offer a bargain.

Under texas law this is a minor (fine only) violation. If someone had been injured it could be a felony and one could spend up to 10 years in prison.

If you did not know you hit a car, then the prosecutor may have issues with the knowledge requirement (if any in your state). they will not point this out to you as most prosecutors are more worried about numbers and fines than justice. NEVER PLEAD GUILTY TO A CHARGE YOU ARE NOT GUILTY OF!!! when in doubt call a lawyer his fee is probably worth the hassle and possible poor outcome.

I don't know but, your one of those guys that make me so mad. You didn't even get out to look or you would have seen the scratch. Your the reason partly why alot of insurance payments go way up for people.

Appear in court. Tell the judge that you had the radio on, you could not hear a crash, but you knew that you had tapped the car as you backed up.

I hope the accident wasn't severe.

Dress nicely, wear pink, or white or something that makes you look innocent, sweet and vulnerable.

Show remorse, concern and interest into what has happened.

You admit you didn't know what happened (don't say you didn't think it was that serious, it implies you knew you did something wrong) and continued on your way home.

You were suprised you got a ticket it took you a while to remember what happened because you didn't even notice something bad/wrong happend while you drove home.

"Act surprised, show concern and deny everything." - learned that from a cop.

Depends on which State you are in...hit and run could range from a slap on the wrist to the death penalty....
