Well many people say to go to a professional, and many say don't do it yourself, but thats all crap, I have been giving myself fades for the past 6 months, had a few slipups on the way, but now i can give myself a fade better than most barbers around. It depends on the length of the hair, i give myself a fade with a four on top, 2 and 1 on the bottom. Your also going to have to fade the 2 in with a 3 so you don't have any hair sticking out. Remember to go from 4, to 3, to, 2, and finally to 1. Don't try to cut the shortest first because then you can't take any errors back. And finally your going to need time, it takes me about 45 minutes.

I know many cosmetologists who do a lousy fade because they don't do enough of them to get good at it. It is very hard to do correctly. A barber has much more experience doing this type of cut.

Don't try it yourself. They are hard to do and if you have no idea what you are doing you will have a disaster. I have also seen a hairdresser do a horrible fade.

Yes it is. Your hair is supposed to be the same size all over your head, not 2 different sizes. PLUS you'd be imitating a Kafir.
