I need a LOT of help with trying to combine the 2.. Everyone has different expectations of me.. My Mother-in-law didn't know what bridesmaids and Maid of Honor and Best Man were! She's trying to force Padrinos on me.. I will take a few but I don't want everything done by people I don't know and am not close to. If they want to pay - fine - but I don't want strangers standing up there with us being part of the ceremony and pretending to care when they don't really. I've seen this happen before at my brother-in-laws communion and it was so impersonal they didn't care about him at all.

Sooo how do I combine? How do we do the vows? How do we do everything bilingual?? Anyone have any ideas/examples PLEASE help.

first make yourself happy, not in-laws. you will never please them and you don't have to.

You should do the mass in the language your both comfortable with....usually bilingual priests/pastors kill the whole ceremony and you cant undertsand them.

Can you afford the wedding by yourselves? Im mexican and will have a Mexican wedding - without the band (now that's a seperate question) - and I plan on having my friends and his friends in it but my mom insists on padrinos to help us with the wedding costs. Usually padrinos help you with pricey stuff but ours will be close relatives. If you can afford the wedding then simply say no. Now if you need a little help, then a couple of padrinos can help. Make sure you two talk it over of what you want and not what others want.
Goodluck

As for your mother-n-law not knowing what bridesmaids and groomsmen are, you can simply say friends who want to help you celebrate and necessarily have to pay.
