I have a tooth abscess on my right side that I need to get taken care of. However I noticed a swollen lymph node on my left side under my chin that feels tender, is there a possibilty that this abscess is causing a lymph node to swell on the opposite side? Or should I be looking for something else?

Also I had my 2 wisdom teeth on the left side (same side as the lymph node) taken out and the dentist said they were infected. The left side of my cheek still feels like its kinda of swollen, could that be it?

That was about a month ago.

Lymphatic drainage does not cross the midline, so look for something else. I think you have identified one possible cause in your recent wisdom tooth extraction, as the lymph nodes take a while to return to normal, but do not rule out the possibility that another tooth is starting to go bad...

Lymph node abnormalities can be scary. I had one when I was 7 and the doctor insisted on surgery to remove the infection less than 2 days after finding out what it was. What you're suggesting is possible, but it could easily be something more serious. Get yourself to a doctor as soon as possible.

It is normal for a lymph node to swell on your left side because that's the way of keeping your immune system fight against microbes that trigger your tooth abscess. It is a defense mechanism that it wont let parasites enter your system.

probably not the abscess is the cause of your swelling on the opposite side , usually swelliness is on the side of the infected tooth, but go and check with the dentist and first get treated the one with the abscess because its gonna be for sure a root canal therapy, and in the other side ,could be another abscess and it not necessary to hurt.
Your doctor he might prescribe you some antibiotics and you will see if the both sides they are going down or not .

LYMPH NODES TAKE SOME TIME TO GO BACK TO NORMAL. THE NODE HAS FOUGHT A RECENT INFECTION AND MAY STILL BE FIGHTING OFF A LOCALIZED INFECTION. GIVE IT MORE TIME TO SEE IF THE NODE DECREASES IN SIZE. IF IT DOES NOT SEE A PHYSICIAN.
