a person has to truly repent from the heart, that is where God looks a person can hide nothing from God so if that person is not truly sorry and I mean as in "Wish I had not done or said that" I wish I could take it all back sorry Paul in the bible persecuted the Christians and was at the stoning of Stephen yet when he heard the words of Christ he repented, believed, was baptized and confessed Jesus before man once that is done then a person must read and study the bible and do as it says and follow the path we are all sinners but we strive to be the best and do the best we can in our daily lives but a person has to read the bible got to church and learn how to be that but it does have great rewards

Don't mistake lip service for a true conversion of the heart. God knows the difference between a truly repentent sinner, and a person who just mouths words and has no inclination to stop sinning.
God does not make you jump through hoops to gain eternal life and forgiveness...He has made the provision very simple in His word; repent of your sins (which literally means, turn away from them), ask His forgiveness...and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior. This is only the first step. We then want to find out how to lead a righteous life; that is what studying the bible is all about.

you can repent all you want... it still wont get you into heaven... unless you come to God in The Way he proscribes and receive His free gift of Salvation you will remain lost and seperated from God. you can not make up your own way or follow any man invented way, to God. Comming to God as He proscribes is the most difficult thing most people will ever do... for some it is so frightening a prospect that they remain seperated from God out of fear.... Coming to God is not easy at all.

Actually it is not at all easy. Someone had to die in your place, after having the flesh torn off Him with whips, after being spat on, after having thorns thrust deep into his head, and after His Heavenly Father turned His face away from Him. It is not easy. Someone had to pay.
If you truly understand that, and if you turn to Him for forgiveness, accepting His sacrifice for you, then you are forgiven. Nothing easy about it!
As has been said, this does not prevent the necessity of paying to society with either prison or the death sentence, depending on where you live. But with God, all is paid.

Yes. That is all that is required to be born again through faith in Christ. God is simple and we have made (through 'religion') things more difficult. We are saved through faith. No one is perfect and there is nothing we can do to earn slavation nor is there anything we can do to loose it. It is eternal salvation. But this does not mean that a person who is saved should continue to do evil things. When a murderer is condemned to prison here on earth he is physically imprisoned, but in reality, spiritually he has been set free through his faith in Christ but he still needs to pay for his crime. There has to be justice on earth for his crime.

With repentence your sin is forgiven but you still have to deal with the consequences of that sin.
