well. since veterins day is tomarrow. (possibly today in a few places) i took my grandma to lunch. and she was telling me that she was pissed off that someone over the phone said she didnt diserve to be called a veterin because she wouldnt donate money to supposably help other veterins. (she doesnt have much money anymore). this pisses me off because she was in the canadian navy during WW2. whoever the hell has the guts to say ANYONE who served in the military in WW2 doesnt diserve to be called a veterin should be f*cking shot. wile they were sh*ting their dipers she was on a boat knowing that she might be swimming the next day in the ocean. anyone who has the guts to say that to any veterin who faught in any war should be shot. i dont care what branch of the military a veterin was in. they all diserve our respect.

yea. she used to tell me storys about how when the canadian military started accepting women in WW2 she wanted to join the army. but her mother didnt like it so she asked her mother if she had anything aginst the navy and her mother said no and thats how she got in the navy. the only storys that she told me that were close calls was when she was on a ship called the queen elizabeth. the captain gave like a 10-20 minute news report around the world. and she said that 1 day the captain said that the germans claimed they sunk the ship. she said everyone was laughing because they were still there. and she also told me she when she was in england she heard the V-1 flying bombs coming and then she was avacuated to a place that was kinda overlooking a city and she said when they hit the ground u would see flashes from the explosions. those are the only 2 storys she told me about close calls. but she told me other storys about some of the things she did.

as far as i know thats the only person who said that. she wears 1 of the metels on her jacket she got in the navy. and she also wears the american and canadian flag on her jacket. and some people ask about it and sometimes they are like oh... and other times they want to shake her hand. or think thats awsome that she served . but they usually never say they dont diserve to be called a veteran.

Nobody has that right. It was probably some panty waist that has never served and could not stand the thought of a woman bettering him. My mother ran into the same thing whenever she said she was a veteran. She was in the RAF in London during WW2 and was an ambulance driver. A person told her that didn't count. Well it counted in my book. God Bless all veterans!

Your Grandma is smart for not giving money to phone solicitors......
They are a scam.
Got a call not long ago from person saying he was from Seattle Fire Department....he was also soliciting funds.
First he wanted to talk to my boss.
My boss was not in.
Then he wanted to talk to me.
He wanted a donation of 50 bucks.
(I still hadn't caught on yet. I really had other things to do but I was polite cause it IS my bosses business phone)
Anyway I said I was worker bee and only part time at that.
So he lowered his request to 30 bucks.
That is when I began to smell a rat.
These beggers are everywhere.
In front of supermarkets selling little box of mints you can buy for 99 cents and they are charging 3 bucks for bogus charity.
Bio diversity people going door to door soliciting funds.
Bogus.
People collecting money for one sort of rescue mission or another.
Had that happen when I was housesitting for friend in nice neighborhood here in Seattle.
I was a serious drunk.
I know all the missions in Seattle.
And his wasn't one of them.
BOGUS
If your Grandma won the lottery she would be smart to deny these frauds so much as a penny.
And when you refuse to give these ******* money they can get offensive.
Don't let it bother you.
Be glad she didn't get swindled.

People these days have no respect for anyone. Be it Veterans, the elderly, women in general, poor people who work hard for every penny they make. It makes me sick to see how these people treat others. Some people have no respect for children being present. They use filthy language and don't even care.
I admire your Grandmother and respect her wholeheartedly. She did something that rude person probably hasn't the guts to do. Give her a kiss♥ on the cheek for me!! Love those Grandma's!! ps, My Dad is 85 and was in WWII also. He was in the U.S. Navy and was in the S. Pacific. His ship was hit and it split in two they were rescued by another ship.♥

I completely understand. Tell your grandmother that this veteran (me) respects her and thanks her for her service.
I'm really wondering if the jerk on the phone was a veteran themselves, or just somebody hired to suck money from people over the telephone. I can't imagine any veteran, especially a war-time veteran saying such a thing. Perhaps the person was mentally ill, or simply an ignorant telemarketer.
So, on Veteran's day, I wish your grandmother well.

Wow, and a woman serving her country and the world! Your grandma deserves all the respect in the world. I'm sorry someone took their cold-calling, impersonal opportunity to make her feel bad.

It sounds to me like she was on the phone with a scam artist. I'll bet it wasn't a real charity of any kind. Scam artists who target the elderly often use tactics like that. They'll say things to bully and intimidate. I hope that she held her ground and didn't donate anything. If it was a real charity, they would NEVER say anything like that. God bless your grandmother for her service and sacrifice. Warn her to be very careful of receiving calls like that.

Cheers for your grandmother and let her know that phone call was a scammer trying to get money. She is only mistaken in not slamming the phone down hard enough to bust their eardrum!

Very disrespectful indeed, but he has every right to say that to her if that's what he thinks. Still, he ought to show her and all the other veterans who fought and died for his freedome much more dignity and respect. Shame on him

That right would be the freedom of speech. You know, the ones that the veterans were fighting for. No offense but if we give that freedom to one then we give it to all.
