i think you should go to a beutition instead og dying it yourself because if you do do it yourself you could mess it up more

Ok u don't want to go to a salon but that is where u will get the best advice and service and the other thing is you won't end up with a yucky color like a dirty green. The one thing i know is you should always pick a shade darker than what you are wanting (that was told to me from a pro hairdresser) also i am just wondering what colour was your hair prior to colouring? If bleached it can end up being or having funky colour!! Anyway good luck in ur quest.

Tell you what: if you want to get rid of the orange, the last thing you want to do is apply color with a golden base. Golden is salon-speak for orange. What you do is look on the color wheel, and whatever color you want to get rid of, pick one with a base that's the opposite of that. You want to get rid of the purply color, you get a beige (yellow) base. If you want to cancel out the gold, get a blue or violet base. If it's too red, get an ash (green) base. The one thing you can't do is achieve both ash and gold. They are just about as opposite as you get. If you don't want a professional job, at least go to a beauty supply store where there are stylists on hand to recommend a color. They can look at your hair and tell you exactly how to get it from what you have to what you want. And you're getting more of a wholesale price that way!

Depending on the last time you dyed your hair you should wait before doing it again too soon, and you really should go to a beautician they may be able to help you better. Look at the sample colors beside the boxes and look for the number you want. Keep in mind that your current hair color is going to interfere with your choice, depending on the tones and highlights you already have.

you should try L'oreal Paris Preference in the shade 4G. It's a dark golden brown. I think it is the perfect match for what you are seeking. If you want more shades to choose from visit their website: http://www.lorealparisusa.com/frames.asp#haircolor/index.asp
