Just wondering, as I see Christmas is tommorow. At least the marketing geniuses would have you believe. Why not do this with every holiday?

oh god, holidays are hitting way too early. You should at least wait for one to finish before advertising for a the next. Like many stores around where I live had Halloween and Christmas displays up *beside* each other. I mean good grief. I realize that Christmas is a big important time of the year where stores make most of their money, but have you ever been to a store on Christmas Eve? The advertising doesn't make you buy earlier, it just makes you start to stress earlier.

Hmm, rant there, sorry. As for your question, they do advertise most holidays well in advance, but Christmas is the most profitable so they put the most effort into it. Something like St. Valentines Day or Thanksgiving, or Easter, they only affect limited portions of the market. But flower shops certainly put a lot of time into preparing for Valentines, and you can buy chocolate Easter eggs waayyyy before Easter, Christmas is just much more in you face, because it's bigger and there are so many people competing for your money,

We usually put them up the week after Thanksgiving, but if it was up to me I'd put them up the day after Thanksgiving. Every year our family goes out to a Christmas Tree farm and cuts one down. It seems like by the first or second week in December all the good trees are taken. So, if you want a good tree it's best to go right after Thanksgiving. Oh, you said stores.. I'd say the first or second week in November is an acceptable time to put out Christmas decorations, but no Santa until after Thanksgiving. The best part of the holidays is walking through the stores decked out in Christmas decorations. I love it.

Our local Hallmark store had Halloween, Thanksgiving, and some Christmas stuff all displayed in the window at the same time.

A local WalMart had battery-operated turkeys with Santa outfits on?!!

I have a very "strict policy" about exactly when each front door decoration goes on the door when. I wish the stores would follow my sensible "policy"

I'll say it is we just past Halloween and haven't even gotten to thanksgiving yet. Although if we have to do every holiday early let's do 4th of July again so we can all shoot fireworks and get drunk. Just remember they're not fireworks unless they can be seen from space and It ain't a party unless somebody's heavin' and the cops have been called twice.

I think it's way to eary for vday. Maybe after Xmas you can start putting up vday display. Feb seems so far away esp when you have xmas as a big holiday. I don't think people are thinking about vday which is 4 months away.

Easter! I would think you should be putting up decorations for EVERY HOLIDAY!! Have sections of your store decorated for different holidays, different times of the year! That would be great!
