These are not true friends, and I would go on and make new ones. Why do you feel you need to explain to people that you do not know anyone?

I have never been in that boat. Neither of them are friends because if your old friends were really your friend, then they would greet you back with open arms. And with the AA friends, if they were really your friends. Then, those so-called "friends" would have help you, when you needed it. Instead of pushing you away like they did. Those AA friends don't know the meaning of AA. You don't have to explain to anyone that you don't know anyone, unless you want to but make friends that are true to the heart and not true to backstabbing.

No need to explain it to normal people. If you feel the need, explain that AA is a cult in many ways, and since you've left, and enjoy a few drinks now and then, you've been demonized.

guess none of them are really your friends then huh? and that's the problem with going sober and falling off the wagon again, so if drinking is what you are choosing to do then go out to the bar get really plastered get loud and obnoxious and be like hey everybody, I am drunk and I don't know anybody, and then go socialize with the other drunks at the bar, although I would go with the alternative of sobering up, nobody likes a drunk/alcoholic, you'll come to find out if you haven't already that the best friend you can have through out life is yourself, or you can also be your own worst enemy, so which is it going to be?
