Has anyone had ovarian or cervical cancer? If you did, what were the symptoms, how were you diagnosed, and which road of treatment did you take?

My best friend had ovarian cancer a bit over 20 years ago. She tried to lose weight after having a baby. It wasn't all that much, but she couldn't get it off. Then she started to look pregnant again, so she went to the doctor. Most of the weight was in one large cyst. She had a hysterectomy, laparotomy, oral chemo and then was hospitalized for I.V. chemo. The only chemo medication name I remember is cis-platin, but I think there were others. Nothing really helped and she only lived five months after diagnosis. There were no symptoms other than the weight.

Not to be rude but it's just the normal for some people with having your period. Some people bleed heavy and some don't the clots that are coming out is just the protective layer of your stomach lining that your body builds up every month in preparation for a possible pregnancy. When you don't become pregnant the body will start shedding the old lining and prepare for the next one hence the clots. The bad pains are cramps due to pms. Unless there is high family history of cancer I wouldn't worry about it. It doesn't sound like cancer to me just a bad period. You can get an over the counter pill called Midol and it will help take the pain and other symptoms of pms away while you are going thru your period. I hope this has helped and God Bless!

Ovarian cancer, stage 3b, diagnosed 11/04. Abnormal pap smear, followed by d&c, then to everything out at which time the diagnosis was made. It is EXTREMELY RARE for signs of ovca to show up on a pap test. 6 monthes of taxol/carboplatin IV and no recurrence yet thank God. In hindsight, I did have constipation which was becoming worse/painful. Turned out I had adhesions from tumor on the bowel and the bowel was slowly being closed, like by a noose. Good luck to you.
