My friend's dog is a four month old boxer. He is darling and learns very quickly. Until you attach a leash to his collar. He then turns into a gymnastic shark, flipping and biting and straining. I have never seen anything like it. Is this normal for boxers and what do we do to stop it? I spent about 15 minutes just letting him flip out, thinking he would get over it, but it didn't happen! Help!!

I had a blue heeler pup that was the same way. We attached the leash and then let her go with it still on. She behaved just the way you described. The key is repetition. Try 10 minutes tomorrow, and the next day. Eventually he will get used to the leash and realize that it really isn't that bad to wear it. The next step is for you to grab hold of the loose end and just follow him around. No pulling. After a while of this, you can gently "suggest" certain destinations until he is heeling calmly with you.

just give it time! He doesn't like the leash that's all. Give him treats to distract him or walk him with another dog!
