TKD first of all:

Competition: Front leg side kick. It's a clear scorer the judges see it easy, 2 points, or 3 to the head which you can get if you've gotten it fast, and it's got stopping power for just about any move they were trying. Also can be used at a closer distance than the others because it comes straight out from you.

Visually: Since i can't do a butterfly kick yet :-)...... have to be jumping reverse turning kick. Injured my ankle on that twice though so a two reverse turning kicks or alternating legs.

My favorite showoffy kicks are the 540 jump spin inner cresent kick and a 720 jump spin hook kick. A 540 jump spin inner cresent kick is performed by first stepping forward with a foot of your chosing ( I step with my right foot forward ). Then, turn to the opposite direction of which foot is in front and let your feet wind together until you are faceing the "front" again. Next, bend at the knee of the other foot that DID NOT step forward in the begining and pick it up off the ground. Last, jump off the foot that is currently on the ground (it should be the one you stepped with in the beginning) keeping it straight do a inner cresent kick with it about head level and land on the same foot.

My favorite sparring kicks I use would have to be the side kick, round kick, and spin hook kick. I like to use the side kick and round kick in connection with each other by setting up the opponent with side kicks to the chest then once there hands come down I use I similar chambered round kick to the head. It is very effective. I use a spin hook kick to the back of my opponent's head if they rush in too quickly.

I use the side thrust kick and back thrust kick in competition to get my opponent off balance or on the ground. Tae Kwon Do student by the way. I need to compete more to get better with other kicks. Visually combos look really cool I like front cut kick to spinning back hook kick. I think moves like this will replace my thrusting ones as I get more comfortable with them and being in tournies. I'm brown belt.

Kicks are not so flashy in dragon kung fu (at least not in my level) but my brother (Tang Soo Do) had this roundhouse kick that went towards the opponent's temple, then he would slightly twist the hips and rotate the foot so it would hit the shoulder blade/neck area with a downward motion. I've seen a lot of big guys buckle trying to save their clavicle from breaking.

Jet Li has this backwards kick that hits with the heel while his body is bent forward, ducking under the opponent's punch. I don't know hat they call it but he did it in Fist of Legend against the general.

Teep!!!!!!!! Aka push kick.

I love the looks on people face when they got knock down after try a secret super powerful turbo firey flashy kick by a merely push kick. Also it's hella fun to push kick someone in face especially when they think you're too close to be able to pulls it off.

Also with good reflex and timing, a teep kick could pretty much stop any strikes attack dead in its path. For example if someone try to round house, a teep to chest/abdomen will stop them, if someone try to spin, a teep to hips or butt will send them fly away, and more.

As soon as they say go. SIDE KICK AS FAST AS YOU CAN. And if you dont get the point follow with punches until you score. But you have to be quick. Or you could keep you foot out there and keep kicking.
