I'm 26 with an IQ that scares me.... I think too much, have no interests, and rarely become excited. I am atheist... Any ideas?

Hi I really liked andiv's answer. But I just wanted to add that I was diagnosed with a low grade depression; and like you I also have a very high IQ, however I do not find that terribly relevant to my situation. A low-grade depression is characterized by a flat mood; not really deriving any joy in anything. There are treatments that may be able to help you to some degree. But finding a good doctor/therapist is not always easy, but well worth it. exercise was mentioned; I have personally found this beneficial, it does release those feel-good endorphins; important to be regular, develop a good routine. I mentioned earlier finding a good therapist, because you seem to need to vent to someone(due to over-thinking). I have also found having a knowledge of why were here and where we are going to be beneficial. My faith does provide me with an accurate knowledge, which has given me a hope for the future. Now if you want to know more about this, feel free to email me. If not, or even if you do, I still feel a good therapist would be a good ideal; because it may be a chemical imbalance.

Well, being an atheist doesn't seem to be working for you. You kinda answered your own question. Try God. No, life's not perfect for you when you are a Christian, but it sure helps to have the maker of the Universe on your side. Even if life is hard, and it will be, because Jesus said it would be, at least when you die you'll get to go to heaven and not hell. Give God a try! Also, try getting the focus off yourself and put your focus on someone else. Maybe a needy person who would need your help. Look around you to those in need and ask what you can do to help. When you get the focus off yourself and help and love others, you will be amazed at how good you will feel. You will have a purpose and be excited about what you can do to make others smile. Give someone poor a bag of groceries on their doorstep anonymously or sponsor a poor family for Christmas. Go to a local shelter and ask if they need help serving food on Thanksgiving or Christmas. The opportunities are endless. God Bless You!!!

You probably are very intelligent, so reason on this. Who made the computer you typed your question on? DId it just happen to come together by chance? No, an intelligent human put it together! The same as the desk, and the chair you are sitting on, not to mention the house you are in, someone constructed it. The same with the earth, and universe, someone of a higher intelligence constructed all things! He has a purpose for the earth. Perhaps you need to reflect on all things you could be doing. Exercise is good to stimulate the brain and raise the endorphins so you can enjoy life more, get outside and take a walk! You may see things that you never saw before!!

"An idle mind is the devil's workshop".

Sounds like you are just a dead head. Get out into the "real" world, away from the "games" like Nintendo and see whats going on.

I think your "IQ" would probably scare me also. What is it.....20.....30?

I, personally, think you are blowing smoke, trying to get attention. There is much better things to do!!

Of course, IF you are an atheist, you are lost anyway UNLESS you change your views. So.....straighten up!!! Good luck. Pops

I guess if you keep doing what you're doing, you'll keep getting more of what you've been getting. Start doing the opposite.

Don't think so much
Cultivate some interests
Get excited about stuff
Start believing in God

Try it for 90 days, and see if life still sucks.

well, what you see is not interesting because you have a interest that you have not seen yet, you think too much is because your mind is searching for you to know what is best for you and you are not excited because what you want is not there for you to get excited, so relax your mind and let the mind find it slowly for you without damage to your brain.

I'm not a bible pusher or a holy roller but if you just find the faith to trust God than everything will turn around for the best.
