okay, so i have straight hair and i wanna get nice curls or at least wavy...there are so many shampoos, conditioners, and other things you can do without going to the hair salon if you have curly hair and want to get it straight, but there arent many to get it to curl? (not including hot irons, which would take me a long time cuz i have long hair)
i mean i have heard of some shapoos and conditioners that will sort of help if you use a hot iron or something but thats it?
so, anyone know about some really, really good products to at least get my hair wavy? (shampoos or anything plzz!)
thanx!

Many wet lines have a curling balm of some sort. Sexy Hair Concepts makes a great one called Curls 24/7. What you will need to do is buy a diffuser for your blow dryer. When you're drying your hair with the diffuser attachment you want to grasp your hair in your hand and "scrunch" it. I do this step until it is about 90% dry. Then, get a hand full of butterfly clips (They're the plastic claw clips you can buy at any beauty supply, just ask the sales clerk) Then place the palm of your hand on the top of our head, "walk" your fingers until you have gathered up a section of hair and clip it. Pretend you're digging your hand into a bowl of popcorn! Continue this palm flat against the head, "finger walking" process until all the hair on your head is in a butterfly clip. You should have approximately 5-8 clips total, depending on the length and thickness of your hair. Let it air dry or continue to hit it with the diffuser. When you take the butterfly clips out,,,,,,Voila'! you will have gorgeous wavy hair. Simply shake your head, apply some hairspray and a shine spray and you're off!
Hope that wasn't too confusing!

I had a similar problem until I began working at a beauty supply store. Here's what you do: go to just such a store and pick up these products: Curling creme, KMS Curl-up or Curly Sexy Hair Curling Balm are two that really work well. Also, get a curl activating spray--I recommend Abba Instant Recall. After you shampoo and condition and towel dry your hair, spray it with the curl activator. (Make sure the ingredient list says "magnesium sulfate." That's what will actually bend your hair and coax it to curl.) Then follow with the balm. You need a diffuser on your hair dryer--turn it onto low heat and cup your hair with the diffusing unit, and bundle the curls up as you blow them dry. It will probably take a few times of doing this consistently before your hair starts to get used to it. Have fun!

hey I have curly hair so I don't know if this will work for you but I use herbal essence totally twisted shampoo and mousse. It makes my hair extra curly and hold a nice curl all day and it's recommended to use with a diffuser. You could also look at their other products. They have lots of good stuff if this doesn't work. Oh btw I got this stuff at cvs and kroger but I'm sure they are at target and walgreen's too.

ok I have your same dillema. My hair is extremely thick and long, and on top of that i have layers which makes it practically impossible to curl unless I have to have 2 hours of spare time on my hands. However I found a great [easy] way to get waves! All you do, is wash your hair. When you get out of the shower, DON'T BRUSH IT. Instead, work mousse into your hair. Then lightly coat it with hairspray. Then once you let it air dry, you should get a soft wave that won't look hard like if you use gel :p. Good luck!

I just got the BEST stuff. It's from Mark (the cool version of Avon) and you put it on after your shower and then curl your hair around your fingers, let it dry, and it looks awesome! Nothing like that has ever worked for me before.
It's the Curl Goddess line, I have all of them but the one I like the best is the styling cream. Hope this helps!

there are many supermarket brands that make shampoo for curly hair and there is a line of john frieda shampoos and conditioners that prep your hair for waves and curls right in the shower.
