Was it right after Jesus died? Or later someone decided to make up a date and proclaim it the birth of jesus?

is it around AD.1000?

The funny thing is, almost 2 billion people celebrate christmas and they have no idea how it originated...sad.

There were Christmas celebrations in Rome as early as 336 AD. December 25 was added to the calendar as a feast day in 350 AD.

It actually should be in July....and it was probably celebrated at Jesus's first birthday...but they probably called it Jesus's Birthday...not Christmas.
