I'm pentacostal, not catholic, but i just got my kid back after he was abused by his mother's bf, and i feel like i should be doing something, and one of the ladies i work with is a catholic and she asked if i had tried any prayers to the saints. she offered to bring me by a book, but i told her i can look them up online, but i don't know which ones would be good for this situation. Help, please?

The patron saints of sick children are:

+ Beuno: http://www.catholic-forum.com/saints/saintb87.htm
+ Clement I: http://www.catholic-forum.com/saints/saintc14.htm
+ Hugh of Lincoln: http://www.catholic-forum.com/saints/sainth20.htm
+ Ubaldus Baldassini: http://www.catholic-forum.com/saints/saintu03.htm

Another suggestion is to pray to the child Jesus. Jesus was fully human and fully God at every moment of His time on Earth. Just like the Magi and the shepherds, we can worship and pray to Jesus in the womb, as a newborn baby, as a child the same age as your child, or as a teenager.

With love and prayers in Christ.

All the true Christian believer are the saints, not just certain people who die and then if you pray to them about something and it comes true then it`s a miracle. If something like this occurs 3 or I don`t know how many times then that dead person is declared a saint by the Catholic Pope and it is also declared as such by the Catholic church. This is one of the reasons I`m not a Catholic any longer, it is a false doctrine. Jesus never gave the church such power as it would be "judging" others, only the Father can judge. It is also a form of worshipping someone who is not God. All Christians are to worship only God, neither are we to make graven images to worship. You can pray for the saints while they are alive, once they die you do not even pray for them any longer. We pray to the Father through the intersession of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This is all that is required of the "saints" or the church, there is no "judgement" only God the Father will judge, not any of us.

Whatever the prayers, they all work when done with sincerity... Pray to THAT Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient God to get Thy Will be done, without hurting you and your child too much ... Things that seem unbearable to take, Thou shall certainly make them bearable ... Good Luck ....

luv and SAI RAM,
jk

p.s. but before the prayers, please change the name Hellbound, if you think you are bound to hell, that may really happen ... and probably nobody likes it ... remember thinking of a butterfly, the worm really becomes a butterfly ....

The best thing you can do for him is to pray to Jesus...PLEASE don't pray to saints....that goes against one of the 10 commandments about worshiping idols, bowing down to them, etc...that's the whole reason Jesus came and died, so we don't have to go through priests anymore, we go to His throne direct! Just pray from your heart to God's for your little boy in Jesus' name. THAT'S the kind of prayer that works.....not a prayer to a DEAD person!

God bless you and your son.
