Yes, inactivity can make a person very drowsy! You gotta move around and get the blood pumping!

My question is...Are you tired because you're sitting all day or are you sitting all day because you're tired?
If you're sitting all day because you're tired, that may be due to medical reasons that a simple CBC or other lab tests may show. If you are tired because your sitting around all day, the bodies brain chemistry may be reacting by not reacting. In other words, the brains "feel good" chemistry may be thrown off by lack of activity causing you to be tired. The more tired you become the easier it is to lose motivation to do things. The more unmotivated you become, the more tired you feel. It's a vicious cycle.
In the next day or so, Try taking a 5 minute walk in the morning, another walk at noon and then one at around 3:00. Nothing more just a 5 minute walk. Then each day add one minute on to each walk. Try to focus on the things around you like the scenary. Avoid thinking about how tired you are. Smile at a neighbor even if you don't feel like smiling. Soon you will notice a difference, I promise:) Remember on these walks that life is a gift and for every smile that you give and every positive thought you possess, you will feel a little more energy. Good luck to you.

Yes, but I think there is more to it than that.
When one has low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) one may feel bored, or lethargic and thus just sit around all day, playing on the computer or reading or daydreaming. Tiredness also is a symptom of low blood sugar as are many other symptoms. The symptoms link at www.hufa.org has a list of some of them.
So both things may be due to low blood sugar, the sitting around and the tiredness.

Yes and the key word is BOREDOM plus we aren't made to sit and/or lay around all time. The body is suppose to be up and moving. This will make all systems operate as they should.
People that go in the hospital, for a time, usually come out so weak they can hardly walk.
Get moving!! Good luck. Pops

Yes. When I go out and do things I am not as easily tired but when I sit around doing nothing I get extremely tired.

Sure, it does.
Lack of activity makes you lethargic, affects your digestion, slows down your blood circulation and oxygen intake.
Even if you are feeling weak, just get up and take any hot beverage and walk around. You will be surprised to see what a difference it makes.
Just one more tip. Avoid gulping chilled water/coke with your meals. Wait for 20 minutes after meals and take a glass of tepid water to improve your digestion.
The golden rule is never to lie down right after food.

yes, sitting around all day can leave you feeling overwhelmingly tired! We need positive stimulation physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally otherwise our bodies and minds shut down, literally...if you don't use it you lose it (i can't remember the exact saying).

Yup. Happens to me sometimes on a day off.... I run around all day at work. If I sit around just doing nothing on my day off I'm just as tired at the end of the day, or worse even.
Weird how when you relax, your body just says "Okay, I quit" and its bedtime..

Absolutely-when you are sedentary, you produce less serotonin which is a neurochemical that helps with mood and energy. If you will get up and walk just 20 minutes a day, it will help with the production of neurochemicals and beta endorphins.
