I used to have this problem. I consulted my personal doctor. He told me to sleep at wake up at the same hour everyday. Sleep early, and drink at least 8 glasses of water. And to do more exercise to pump out old blood. I did, and it works.

Dark circles can be caused by many things:
1. heredity- does your family tend to have them? If so, not a lot you can do but use concealers and make-up
2. stress - relax, try to do controlled breathing and just kick back a little more. Use the cucumber slices or ice pads, mentioned above.
3. lack of sleep - change your bad sleep habits, get plenty of sleep.
4. vitamin or iron deficiency- you might need to see your doctor to find out which vitamins you need or how much iron you need.
5. stomach sleepers tend to have more dark circles under their eyes. Try sleeping more on your side or back.
6. kidney problems- can cause the dark circles. See your doctor if you suspect you have this problem.
It could be a combination of two or more. Hope these help you. (^_~)
Oh, and Prep-H cream really is good for the bags under your eyes as well as tiny wrinkles.

How to Get Rid of the Black Rings Around Your Eyes
Apply the cream to the skin and relax for sometime. If you have to put on a facemask, then soak the little cotton pads into the soap water and place it on the eyes when they are closed. Otherwise, you may use them around 2 cucumber slices to make your eyes cooler. In this way you can provide a pleasant feeling to your eyes. And you can get rid of your dark circles around your eyes quickly. Your skin will glow when these circles vanish.
Whenever you experience problems like sore eyes due to harmful infrared rays, wind or after using water with chlorine, then rinse your eyes thoroughly with enough distilled water. Mix rose water with about 1-2 tablespoons in distilled water. Give a suitable bath to the eyes.

Dark circles are often caused due to sleeplessness or disturbed sleep. If you find yourself developing dark circles, you need to first catch up on your sleep. Genetics too could predispose you to developing dark circles.
Other factors causing dark under-eye circles include:
Drinking an excess of beverages that contain caffeine.
Smoking
Allergies
Thyroid problems
A lack of iron in your body during menstruation. This often contributes to dark circles, which is why some women have a tendency to develop dark circles during their period.
First of all, try and figure out the reason you have developed dark circles.
Have you always had them?
Are they a recent occurrence?
Does your mother have dark circles under the eyes as well? Once you can pinpoint the cause for dark circles, it would be much easier for you to get rid of them.
Are you allergic to something?
If yes, work on avoiding the allergens.
Apply Vitamin E to the area under your eye.
You could open up a Vitamin E capsule, and apply a little oil. Swallow the rest of the oil. This not only helps you get rid of dark circles, but also reduces puffiness around the eyes. In addition, regular application of Vitamin E delays the onset of wrinkles.
Swallow a capsule of cod liver oil everyday. It strengthens eyes.
Take a teaspoon of tomato juice, a few drops of lemon juice, a pinch of turmeric powder and a little flour, enough to make a paste. Apply this paste to the under-eye area, and wash off after fifteen minutes.
Apply a cold, used tea bag to your eyes. You could also applied used, cold, herbal tea leaves to your eyes, to sooth them.
Try out dark circle remover creams available in the market. Make sure they are of a recognized brand before applying them to your face.
To hide dark under eye circles, select a cosmetic under-eye concealer that's one shade lighter than the foundation you're using.
Understand that a pale yellowish concealer helps hide blue or grayish circles, while a light blue or mauvish concealer masks brownish under-the-eye bags.
Begin with a freshly washed and exfoliated face. Dab concealer under your eyes gently, using a soft circular motion.
Apply foundation up to the concealer and blend the two shades together gently, using a circular motion to cover dark under eye circles.
Finish with a dusting of untinted face powder for a polished, seamless look.
Tips:
Avoid concealers containing oils, because the oil will settle into the fine lines under your eyes and draw attention to the circles.
When using a cosmetic under eye concealer, wearing foundation is a must to avoid the "white mask" look.
Never use an over-the-counter facial and body cream bleach under the eyes to eliminate dark circles. Use only prescription creams administered under a doctor's supervision.
Always apply concealer gently--rubbing can cause swelling, redness or bruising of the under eye area.
I know this is too much info....hope some of it helps.... :p

I'm a dental hygienist who has had the opportunity study in a prestigious continuing education institute. I learned this: If you have your tonsils and/ or adenoids, and they are swollen most the time, you may not be getting enough oxygen into your blood. One of the symptoms is dark circles under the eyes. Ask your dentist or hygienist to check your tonsils/adenoids. You may need to have them removed.

could be a sign of an iron deficiency... i would first try to make sure that i was doing everything to take care of my health. lots of rest, etc.
then, if that's just the way your eyes are - go buy some blending creams and get busy... green makes any redness diminish and cream blends out the dark circles.
