Do animals really have allergies? My 5 month old kitten sneezes about 5-7 times in a ROW! Is that allergies? Is there a way to make her stop sneezing?(that sounds funny lol) She unsually sneezes when she's exploring in my closet and under furniture. Thanks!
P.S.-One of her eyes is always teary. Could the sneezing and teary eye be linked?

Easy answer: Yes animals have allergies.
But, sneezing in cats and with a teary eye could be Feline Upper Respiratory disease. Is she vaccinated? where did you get her from? Was the mother cat vaccinated? If she is not vaccinated or her mother was not or she came from a shelter with lots of other cats coming and going this could be what it is. It is treatable as long as you take her to her vet and is put on antibiotics. She can have it the rest of her live but can be managed. Cats will get over this pretty well as long as you treat it in time. Of course, it may not be this at all! Maybe it's the dust.

Allergies are a possible response, but you may be surprised to know that thyroid problems can cause just what you describe, and the animal my become so congestive it will die or sort of waste away. If that is the cause, surgery is the only answer, but it will be a miracle cure. Suggest to the veterinarian this possibility, and he will run and read and then you'll know. If the sneezing produces thick snot, look to the thyroid.

I had a cat that did the same thing and i took it to the vet;and the vet said it had a cold and went on antibiotics. If it has been more than 4to5 days since your cat has been sneezing i would suggest you take your cat in he could get very sick. The answer is it only gets worst and no the sneezing will not stop.

if it is a kitten then you should also be aware that it could have a cold, caught from changes in environment and such....

allergies are something that are common for animals just like humans but if it is also showing other signs of breathing problems then I would think that it is a cold and for cats they can be harmful, but you have have it treated by a vet....

my one cat has allergies of a sort, I can't feed him anything with animal by products otherwise he has problems int he litter box

call you vet for some advice but make sure that you get the kitty vacinated as well

Sounds like she has an infection, and the vet should perscribe some sort of antibiotic. My cat had the same thing. She also recommended that we stick our cat in the bathroom when we have a shower to help clear her out, like her congestion. Our vet person didn't tell us that she had an allergy, and you're cat had the same symptons as ours.

yes, animals do get allergies. They could be connected; it's probably nothing serious. Take her to the vet - nothing urgent - and just get her checked out. Maybe you can get medicine for it - even if you can't, the vet can give you some good advice. :-) hope this helps!

If she is crawling under furniture she's getting her little nose into dust! Get a dust mop and clean under the sofa!

And cats can get sensitivity problems.

I'm no expert, but it could be from dust, or allergies. I'm no vet and I don't like cats. I only like the white fluffy ones.
