I believe the British Army has some high standards and one of them is the ability to spell. You may wish to take some English and spelling classes.
While in the American Army, I had the honor and privilege to work with British Soldiers. They were educated, motivated and a outstanding group of soldiers.

Ok first it was wrong to carry a knife,,so you know that you have done wrong,,personally I would stand up in court and express this to the Beak,,tell him that you know you were wrong and tell him how sorry you are for doing such a stupid thing,,then tell him that you have always wanted to join the Army since you were a kid. Sometimes people do make mistakes,,on this occasion a very silly mistake,,maybe the Beak will see that you are sincere and just maybe he will give you a break. I do think there could be a possibility you could get away with it,,after all to err is human and judges are sometimes human too,,so I believe it will all depend on how you and your lawyer present yourselves in court.
Carrying a knife around was silly,,and I like others were wondering why you did this,,but carrying a gun is far more serious and the Army is not a game,,have you ever thought about a different career?

not sure where the others are getting there information, but the short answer is YES.... the Army's policy doesn't discriminate against passed offences..and their standards are not as high as the public like to think... if you were to stay free from offences for 18months then apply, you will start training... (not sure you'll finish and actually get in) the Infantry are now even accepting lads who have been on drugs, as long as they are free from drugs when they join (although if you TAKE drugs while your in, you'll be kicked out.... doesn't look good on your CV for other jobs)
if you didn't attack anyone with the knife, and you don't go to prison, you have a very good chance of still being accepted in the army
good luck

The army in Britain has a system that classifies convictions of different types depending on the seriousness of the crime. This means a certain amount of time must pass after your conviction or imprisonment before you can apply to join up, after this time your conviction is classed as "spent". Obviously some crimes mean you cannot ever apply but i think you will be ok as long as you keep your nose clean in the future!

join the french foreign legion (they'll take anyone) even you.
but on a more serious note, (if this goes to court ) make sure your solicitor makes the court aware of your intentions P.S the size of the knife and the circumstances will also play a part .

In my opinion, as the eldest of 4 boys you may have acted out of fear anger and lack of self respect to have felt the only options is to make use of a knife in this way. You obviously know in your slf you are not and regret 'being' that person. Lay this clearly on the table when presenting yourslf in court and you will gain respect from those who have the power to confiscate your liberty. As for the army they will provide you with the self dicipline to focus for your energy, exprssedas anger in the past. You will learn the 'knife' and have the substance to repect its many uses.

Why were you carrying a knife in public at 3:00am?
That was a very stupid thing to do. If you could get 6 months then it sounds like the courts are taking it seriously (at last).
In answer to your question. I don't know.
But I hope not. They are a professional Army and need to show responsibility. You lack that at the moment.

If you are convicted, then ask your careers office about how the Rehabilitation of Offenders act applies to you.
