Would you date someone who had not had a date since High School and is 50 years old??

This a follow up question to the one from last week, I have been tryong for months to cultivate a responce from several dating websites, I never married because of my years as a chef in Canada, and my not wanting to date female co-workers, which made it very hard to find someone, any of you lovely ladies who visit this site, could you venture an answer, and why you would or would'nt give me a chance?

As you are a mature person. In my view you should marry a women who is not less than 40 years of her age.As there should be some correlation in ages as well.
Also there is no need for dating. Many dates you have already passed.

Although this is a rather late answer, I'll state it anyway.
I know how you feel. Although I do have someone, I am about the same age as you. And I just retired. And within 6 months, all of the people once dealt with on a regular basis, just don't even return my calls anymore. So all my 'work' friends are just gone.
I have found that as we age, women our age do not want a husband-rather, they want a companion. They have already done the marriage thing and are either divorced a couple of times, or have grown kids and just don't want to go there anymore.
I would suggest that you stop looking for a wife, and just look for someone to go to a movie with, go to a museum with. Your culinary history is a BIG draw for women. I had the talent for it when I was younger, but just recently got the degree-more for myself than any other reason.
You might check on some cooking demonstration type of places like Sur La Table or some such, to hold classes and meet women that way. Most 'students' you will get these classes are women anyway.

I'm happily married. But if I were single, I wouldn't date you, unless I knew you really well and liked you a lot. There are probably reasons you did not mention, why you have not dated women since high school, or you are lying about it. One reason could be that you had to take care of severely handicapped or ill parents. Another could be that you didn't really want a relationship. Now you are 50 (I'm 55) and you have changed your mind. But, are you flexible enough to be able to enter into a relationship with another person? Have you become rigid and stuck on your ways?
I am going to list a few possible reasons a woman might not want to date you now:
1) Other women probably don't want you. No woman wants a man no other woman wants.
2) You are set in your ways and rigid. It means you are not "marriage material". Women (at lest interesting ones) like to have someone they can talk to and work with, not someone who will dictate to them. They like to go out once in a while, do different things and meet new people. If you just work and sleep, you might not be so interesting a companion.
3) You are still fixated on your mother. This is probably the worst liability, and I'm sure I don't need to explain it.
4) You have handicapped parents or a parent who require all of your free time and energy.
5) You don't have enough self-confidence.

Your assets:
1) You never had any horrible relationships to destroy your ood opinion of women. Too much "baggage" can be harmful.
2) You don't have much to compare "her" to, so she will be "number one" for you, as long as you are together.
3) You are not running around playing stupid cheating games with other women. She can trust you.

These computer dating services often don't work well for people over 50, because we are not used to looking for dates that way. They may even reject you, but do not be discouraged. Good people of this age often don't use them. I agree with the previous poster that you should try to look to meet a woman younger than you, perhaps in her 40s. Develop a new hobby, and when you meet someone nice, wait a while before you tell her you haven't dated for the last 30 years.
