i have sat with my legs crossed probably starting when i was ten now i am thirty five. i cross them every time i sit down, eventually after a long priod of crossing my top leg gets numb, and i keep them crossed. i have heard that crossing your legs can cause vein problems, i dont have any at all to this point, but is it true that it is bad? because if it is i will try to break my habbit if i isnt i want to keep crossing them because its so comfortable. Also do you cross your legs, and for how long at a time

No! I cross my legs all the time and my legs are perfectly healthy. Don't worry, it's just one of those obsessive health freak myths. You have nothing to worry about!

I will soon be 47 years old and have crossed my legs all my life. Sometimes I cross them Indian style, sometimes I cross them at the ankles, sometimes like right now I have my left leg almost under me and the right leg crossed over it and hanging off of the chair. I have never had a problem with my legs or veins. Do what is comfy and don't worry about the rest.

anytime a body part goes numb it is not a good sign. crossing your legs can cause vericose and spider veins. it sounds like you are cutting off your blood circulation (hence the numbness). why don't you simply switch them frequently? crossing your legs for long periods of time on an airplane increases the risk of blood clots, fyi.

well I personally have not heard of that, getting numb by crossing your legs however I must tell you that I am a leg man and would suggest that you do not put yourself through the pain of the numbness....keep those wonderful gams in tip top shape

I haven't heard of this before, but I can see why it might be the case. Crossing your legs must stem the flow of blood to a certain desgree, which can only be a bad thing, can't it?

seriously?

i cross my legs for as long as i like until it gets uncomfortable. perhaps you should stop leaving them crossed to when they go numb to prvent the nerve damage???? even if damage isnt possibledo you think tis eally wise to keep them crossed when thats what made them go numb inthe first place? i mean come on lady! switch it up then go back to crossing them when the numbness stops!

yes it is true it happened to me none and then out of the blue a bit like wrinkles volia they were there so dont do it and if you can elevate your legs when sleeping this helps and when you can wear flat shoes heels are a killer.

if you havent got them at 35 great stop doing it so you dont get them cause they look ugly

ladies always sit with their legs crossed. after surgery they don't want you to cross your legs because it can cause a blood clot that will lead to your brain
