I think it is time for Health class again. Your body and mind is a precious gift. The drug has 400 chemicals in it. However, when used it has double the amount. While it may cause short-term effects. The consequence is severe. One of the most vital organs is being effected: your lungs. So if you want to see if you can still live without your lungs. Be my guest. By the way. That is the reason why marijuana was band in the first place; not because of religion. Second, study more on your government. Separation of Church and State means something totally different than people think. What is meant is that the State or government cannot control the church nor can it establish a national church like England does. A person from a church can be a part of government does not mean the church controls the state. The definition of a church is a place where a group of people gather together to worship and have fellowship.

In my personal experience, marijuana is not addicting and the affects of this drug are very short term. Chronic pot smoking opposed to chronic cigarette smoking does not link to lung cancer. However, that's not to say that smoking marijuana is a healthy choice. It will still be harsh on your lungs over long term. That's why some people who smoke use a water bong which is less irritating because the water acts as a filter. I'd say there is no harm in trying it, and even encourage that so you know for yourself how it affects you and not just taking someone else's word for it. It causes a temporary sensation of euphoria and can even make the act of sex more enhancing. It also has great medical benefits at alleviating pain. But like any drug, done to excess or abused, it can be very harmfull to you. It does not damage brain cells as stated by someone else. However, while under the influence of this drug, you'll not be able to think clearly as with any narcotic medicine, nor be able to drive safely. But as stated above, these are short term affects. I have heard nothing on the study you mentioned about alzheimer's disease.

Its an interesting question! All the medical workers say that it's really bad for health and it's absolutely true but there lies one contradiction in it - secretion of acetylcholine by vagus nerve. It has been found that this chemical component, discovered in the heart muscles, was found to be secreted by the vagus nerve which also helps in the fuctioning of the brain. And, scientifically it has been theorized that acetylcholine helps in builinding up of memory. Yet, it has not been fully researched. But, the part is, smoking causes increased rate of respiration. Due to this, some of the excitory nerves binding with the heart muscles which also includes vagus nerve their own excitation. As a result, it helps in increasing the rate of acetylcholine. Thus, this might help in boosting up of one's memory. And its true that some great scientists and poets incripted in the history were chain smokers as well! And yeah its true that, deficiency in acetylcholine has been associated with Alzheimer's disease which causes memory deficiency!
From my opinion, to solve this probelm, further research in "Acetylcholine" and "Glutamate" is required!
But, certainly, smoking Marijuana or any tobacco components is bad for respiration process which has many harmful consequences.

There are a lot of conflicting reports on marijuana, but I have to say that in my experience that it has been really beneficial. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and suffer greatly from pain in most of my joints. The doctors prescribed a ton of narcotics to help manage the pain. After using marijuana I realized that my pain and especially my inflammation had greatly reduced. Along the way, I learned that marijuana oils can be made and make a wonderful topical rub, that helps like a muscle rub for the joints. You don't necessarily have to smoke pot to get the benefits your looking for.

Really depends on the personality of the smoker. Anything is bad if you overuse it. But in my opinion it is bad due to the fact when you smoke you have no motivation at all. You just want to feel that high. You become depressed because you have no life because you don't want to do anything but sit around and get high. But it does have its benifits medically.

I think it should be legal for medical use, after all there are prescription drugs that are a lot stronger, with more side effects, As for long term recreational use, have you ever watched "That seventies show", the dope head character is pretty accurate example of too much dope, for too many years. I'm pretty sure it would increase the chances of Alzheimer's, alcohol does.

in my opininion, (and that is all it is) i think marijuana is ok. i mean i personally don't mess with it as it makes me feel really stupid and self conscious as if people are staring at a big purple booger hanging from my nose; but i think it should be legal for people who CAN handle it.
as far as the medicinal uses for it, it~helps to ease nausea and increase apetite for AIDS and cancer patients. this is a true and proven fact.~it does cause the munchies for recreational users, so this stands to reason.
all the talk about it causing alzheimers, etc, etc. is more than likely propaganda put out there to scare people because the government doesn't want us smoking it.

Well, I think there are a lot worse drugs out there! I know that weed has gotten a bad rap as "the gateway drug"; but i still feel that if used in moderation it's okay! You never hear of weed smokers killing someone or robbing or raping...they just sit on the couch and watch TV!

The only way marijuana can ruin your life is when you get busted with it by the cops. Smoking it isn't as bad for you as smoking cigarettes. Don't believe all the anti-marijuana propaganda. Smoke some and make your own judgments. Don't just be someone Else's mindless echo.
