Just make sure she contacts proper authorities. She may not get her money back, but at least you can help prevent someone else from being conned.

The best thing you can do is console your friend for some of the worst judgment in the world.

Once a WIRE has been sent and received, there is absolutely nothing the issuing bank can do to "retrieve" the funds.

This is how the FEDWIRE funds system work (which is a high-speed electronic payment system, created by the Federal Reserve Bank).

Unfortunately, your friend is S.O.L. and she should have given herself at least 48 hours to THINK before wiring that amount of money to someone. All wire transmissions are FINAL! No refunds or exchanged allowed.

You can not save your friend from herself. Just hand her a tissue when needed. You do not need to intercede on her behalf as there is nothing you can do.

Some lessons your friend has to learn the hard way.

If she wire transferred that money through a bank naming that guy as the benefactor, there is nothing you can do. The only thing she can do is go to where she wired the money and see if he already picked up the money(which I bet he did). If he didn't by any luck, she can get them to transfer the money back to her. There is no "collector" that could help you unless you mean someone that can break the guys legs- she has no loan papers signed by him, so she is basically out the money.

It depends on what the nature of the transaction was. If it was a business transaction (i.e. if she sent him money in exchange for a good or service, and he failed to provide the good or service), then she can pursue him based on the laws of the United States, if she even can track him down. Contact your local law enforcement, who will likely refer you to a consumer protection bureau or FBI.

If he was some guy just begging for money (promising love or marriage or just friendship) and your friend was stupid enough to give it to him, then unfortunately she's out of luck.

This is a widespread and common thing going on now. The only thing she can do is take him to small claims court if possible. Actually you can do nothing to help. Tell her to NEVER do this again, all you can do.

She gave away her money.

There isn't anything you can do.
