here you go son: find nut trees. I prefer hickory but any will do. use camo if you can and it is legal. Sit down and sit still. In a few minuets, the birds sing, then the chipmunks come out. Shortly followed by the squirells. Stay still and they cant see you even if you wear hunter orange. If you are on public land, WEAR ORANGE!!! Just trust me on that. ANyway, try to spot several before you shoot. Your pellet gun is probably quieter than my .22lr. The First squirrel will fall if you hit it well (in the head since you have that). Then look at the other squirrels you saw, they usually "flatten out" on a limb or climb the tree and "peek" at you in a minuet. Then drop them. Go collect your ones you shot. If not at the bag limit, shoot some more. THe best time I have found this time of year is morning and evening. To clean the squirrel, just lift the fur on the back and cut it to make an opening. Cut a "circle" around the squirrel so the fir is in two pieces. Then "pull the pants off" the squirrel. When you pull the skin down around the paws, just cut it at the "ankle". Same for the "shirt". Soak in a lightly salted water overnight and cook or freeze the next morning. Happy hunting!

I don't know what state your from, but that's illegal I think. As far as cleaning goes, remove the fur around the butt beneath the tail with the edge of your knife by plucking it, this only takes seconds. Then cut a swath across the bare area you created under the tail until you go through the tail and meat, but not the hide, going out about an inch on each side of the tail. Now grab it by the hind legs and step on the tail and pull, you may have to use your knife some more until you get the knack. Pull the hide all the way down to the neck and cut the head off. I use wire cutters to remove the legs. Now gut it like you would any other animal and enjoy.
Still hunting (walking) for squirell will make you stealthier for deer season. Don't put food on the ground, that's why they are in a tree, and don't use a blind.

The first thing is to cut the tail bone through from beneath, but take care not to cut through the skin of the tail. Hold the tail as shown on the left in the picture above, and then cut the skin the width of the back, as shown in the dotted lines. Turn the squirrel over on its back and step on the base of the tail. Hold the hind legs in one hand and pull steadily and slowly, as shown in the center sketch, until the skin has worked itself over the front legs and head. While holding the squirrel in the same position, pull the remaining skin from the kind legs. Then, cut off the head and the feet and remove the internal organs (save them to make head cheese!), and don't forget about the glands in the small of the back and under each foreleg, between the ribs and the shoulder, or you will not be loving your glandular-tasting dinner (it's been a very long time since that unwelcome and acrid surprise of glandular residue from a squirrel or muskrat has filled my mouth, but the memory of the taste is so vivid that even now I seem to feel it creeping from the sides of my tongue...). Stuff the squirrel and roast it just as you would a pigeon, or use it to prepare an exotic version of Brunswick stew. Squirrels often eat pine cone seeds or acorns so you could make a pile of pine cones and acorns and see if they come in and leave it or a few a days

I've been hunting and eating squirrels all my life and my father and grandfather hunted and ate squirrel too. I love squirrel meat! Mostly, I hunt them with a shotgun, but I have taken them with a pellet gun back when I was a kid. You can hunt squirrels by walking and simply looking for them as you go or you can sit and quietly wait for them to appear in the trees around you. I usually do a little bit of both. Sometimes, you will see a squirrel that runs into a hole in a tree or goes around the other side where you can't see him. If you'll sit and quietly wait for a while, he will probably re-appear and offer you a shot. Just go looking for them and you'll develop your own favorite methods of locating them.

As for cleaning them, it is quite simple. Just cut a small slit through the skin on the animal's back, just large enough to get your fingers inside. Stick the fingers of both hands into the slit and pull the skin toward the head with one hand and toward the tail with the other. It will slide right off. Then just cut the feet, tail, and head off once the skin is pulled down to them. Next, you'll cut the abdominal cavity open with your knife and simply pull out all the the guts and discard them. Then, wash the entire carcass in water and you're done. You may want to soak them in salt water in the refrigerator for several hours before you cook them. Its not neccessary, but it seems to help get them good and clean before cooking.

To cook, just cut them up into pieces...leg pieces, and back pieces. Mix together a little egg and milk and drop the pieces into it to moisten. Then, dredge them in flour with a little salt and pepper added. Next, heat some oil in a skillet and drop the flour coated pieces into it. You will simply brown them on all sides, but not cook all the way through. Then, place the browned pieces into a casserole dish with some large pieces of potatoes and onions. Add about 1/4 cup of water and put a cover on the casserole dish. Maybe add a little more salt and pepper at this point. Place it into a 375 degree oven and bake for about 40 minutes. That's it....enjoy!

Here's a answer from a mixed up girl..lol i say this cause i can relate to both types of answers.I,ve got 4 young men in the house and live in prime hunting location for all types of game.I ,ve called them and the boys took their aim..I call early in the am,looking for signs on them on the ground & trees. To do this take 2 coins and cupp 1 in a fist, tapp the coin with the other in intervils of 4-8 times off n on several times.this will make a sound like "the big male" does when He's looking for mate,I hope these are ones in the woods and not ones that are like back yard/park variety..that have looked to humans for food/snacks..I don,t believe in just killing for the Hell of it!God put all things here, for a reason.and sometimes those cute little creatures could be nourishment in a time of need, and one "should be capiable of providing for such a need, should it arise.so now after you,ve got dinner clean the varment. we snip the feet off 1st,cut th skin under the belly.and basically peel the skin back & off, cutting the tail & head off, then gutting.thefine hair that remains comes off pretty easy in hot water to which alittle vinager has been added.thats it! dredge in seasoned flour, fry in alittle oil.I add onions ,a lil' garlic powder,a lil'chopped celery, fry til' brown add about a cup of water cover w/ lid simmer til tender.this is 'country squirrel & gravy' we have had them with rice or potatoes. And although I HAVE ..called.aimed,cleaned cooked them to teach my kids "HOW" I preferr to "adore nature alive ".

To clean them just cut the fur like it's a jacket then pull it off. the rest is gutting and washing it off. I hope you can tell the difference between guts and meat!?

You are sick. What did a poor helpless squirrel ever do to you? Find a more productive way to spend your time like feeding the homeless or something.

Don't hurt the animals! They have just AS MUCH reason to live AS you DO! Besides, they're cute!
Take your gun and go target shooting at inadamate objects instead! Don't you have a HEART for POOR, DEFENSELESS animals?

shame on you!
