People cry because they won't see that person anymore. They cry because someone they love is gone ...
Yes, we should celebrate and cheer when one leaves the Earth and cry when a baby enters the world. It's just that we don't know and human emotions step in and we feel the selfish emotions to want the loved one around.

Probably for the same reason that people cry when a loved one accepts a job offer in a distant city or goes away to college or retires to a live on the Riviera. Even if you believe it's a good thing for them you cry because you will have to get along without them.

The passing of a love one, is painful no matter how you look at it. The pain of missing them is what is in them mind of the one who is left behind. Even Jesus wept at the Passing of Lazereth, even though he raise him from the dead. The pain is still real.
However as a faith full believer in Jesus I do have the assurance that I will be with my loved ones again.
At my grandfathers funeral as much as it hurt, jokes were the thing that broke up sorrow of the day. It broke the ice and would have been something that he would have done himself.
So there is both time for sorrow and time for joy at the same time.

There have been only a few that have gone to heaven, Enoch, Moses, etc. At the second coming it is prophesied that the dead in Christ will rise first. If we are all in heaven as most preacher put them in, who is going to be raised. As far as crying for a loved one, it is because we will miss them. We cry even though the Bible say to cry for babies being born and have joy when they die.

If I was to loose someone I loved, I would cry even if I knew they were in Heaven because I would miss them. It's what you call being human. There would be contentment in the sorrow knowing they were in Heaven.

there is still an emotional attachment to the loved one who has died. it's not like a gold fish you can flush and be done with it. it's not sorrow as those without hope. i preached my father in-laws funeral and he was a christian so it was easy to do knowing he was saved, but i still miss him but i don't get down and out because i know he is far far better off now.
Act 8:2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.

they do celebrate and cheer, but they still can mourn the physical person...if someone died in my family, i would be so happy for them, but feel sad that I wouldn't be able to be with them until my time was up.
