here's the bible verse to support it
Galatians 3:19
19What then was the purpose of the Law? It was added [later on, after the promise, to disclose and expose to men their guilt] because of transgressions and [to make men more conscious of the sinfulness] of sin; and it was intended to be in effect until the Seed (the Descendant, the Heir) should come, to and concerning Whom the promise had been made. And it [the Law] was arranged and ordained and appointed through the instrumentality of angels [and was given] by the hand (in the person) of a go-between [Moses, an intermediary person between God and man].
Romans 3:19
19Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that [the murmurs and excuses of] every mouth may be hushed and all the world may be held accountable to God.
(Paul is saying that he would not know what sin was unless the Law, 10 Commandments, showed him. The 10 Commandments are what made Paul understand that he had sinned against God, helped him see that he was spiritually 'dead' and in need God's forgiveness and new life.)
John 4:16-18 , tells the story when Jesus approached the Samarian woman at the well. Jesus brought conviction using the Law of God. Jesus gently spoke to her conscience by alluding the fact that she had transgressed the Seventh of the 10 Commandments. He used law to bring 'the knowledge of the sin".
Another example when Jesus using the Law is in Luke 18:18-21, Jesus confronted the rich man, by asking him to sell all his belonging and following Him. The rich man, prefer to serve the money instead of God, thus he just broke the first and the seventh of the 10 Commandments.
So, if you think that Jesus doesn't use the Law when he cronfronted people, I guess start reading the book of John, it has so many examples that Jesus using the Law to bring people to God.
To Love God is To Obey Him.

For God's Glory

No we are under grace. But to be under grace you have to keep the commandments.
Ro 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Ro 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
Ro 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Ro 6:17But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Ro 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Ro 6:19I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
Ro 6:20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
Ro 6:21What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
Ro 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Ro 6:23For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Right there it says that we are not supposed to sin.

And Here is a definition
1Jo 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

We are saved by grace. The commandments are there so we can get grace from God. That's what we are supposed to do.
That means all the commandments Sabbath, food laws, and holy days inculed.
Ec 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
