I have read the bible. It completely contradicts itself and what we know about today's society. I have thought about the concept of god. Unlikely at best. The unlikely concept of a god and the christian bible completely contradict each other also. It seems every line of the christian bible can be completely, and easily be disproven by what we know in the modern world...If I was a preist I would be trying to keep as many illiterate as possible so they can't read that and say 'Wow, that must be the most stupid book I have ever read.' If I am seriously going to be sent to Hell for not believing that piece of lard then god is a jerk anyways and I don't want to spend my time floating in the clouds with him, expecially not for all eternity. It's just me, right? I must be missing something that all the other people who are absorbed into that stuff aren't? Hmmm..I never did drink the kool-aid the sunday school teacher handed out...could that be it?

AS for proof of contradictions...I don't have much time, sry. But I can give two that show both the contradiction of the image of a god and what we know in today's society.

K, God created the world in seven days including his human's Adam and Eve. Well, for you morons who don't see a problem there....It is scientifically proven that the dinosaurs exited millions of years before humans. Uh oh!

Jesus' Geneaology?

In two places in the New Testament the genealogy of Jesus son of Mary is mentioned. Matthew 1:6-16 and Luke 3:23-31. Each gives the ancestors of Joseph the CLAIMED husband of Mary and Step father of Jesus. The first one starts from Abraham(verse 2) all the way down to Jesus. The second one from Jesus all the way back to Adam. The only common name to these two lists between David and Jesus is JOSEPH, How can this be true? and also How can Jesus have a genealogy when all Muslims and most Christians believe that Jesus had/has no father.

Whom did they see at the tomb?

MAT 28:2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
MAT 28:3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
MAT 28:4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
MAT 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

MAR 16:5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.

LUK 24:4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

JOH 20:12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

How long was Jesus in the tomb?

Depends where you look; Matthew 12:40 gives Jesus prophesying that he will spend "three days and three nights in the heart of the earth," and Mark 10:34 has "after three days (meta treis emeras) he will rise again." As far as I can see from a quick look, the prophecies have "after three days," but the post-Resurrection narratives have "on the third day."

You keep hanging around in the R&S page, asking loaded questions for which you have already decided the answer, ...

Am I missing something or are you hiding your desire for faith behind a mask of, what, ... synicism?

Society contradicts the Bible because society hates the in-your-face calls for repentance, and the naming of sins. John the Baptist faced this when he told Herod "it is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife." Societies favorite sins: lust, adultery, fornication, witchcraft, drugs, drunkenesss, materialism, abortion, are all condemned by the Bible. No wonder society hates the Bible.

The kool-aid you drank was NOT that of your SS teacher, but some other self-assured synic who assured you that atheism was the way to go. To be sure that there is no God, you must know everything, but everything, in order to eleminate all the possibiities. Oh, but then you would BE God, not just think you are.

No, it isn't just you, it is everyone who has not received the Holy Spirit of God who gives understanding of what the Bible is actually saying. Although in your case, from what you have written, it would seem that you have a predilection for not wanting to understand the Bible so your case is probably more extreme than the average person's might be.

I hope that you change your attitude and really try to find out why the Bible seems contradictory and unreal. But that's up to you. As to your claim that anything in the Bible can be disproved, that is a specious claim. Nothing in the Bible has ever been proved to be false.

If you had read the Bible, where did it say people go to hell?Where did it say that all good people go to heaven?
It didnt because that is not what the Bible teaches.
Hell is a pagan teaching that had been fused in with apostate Christianity in the fourth century CE.The concept of all good people going to heaven is a man made doctrine.
The account of the Ethiopian Eunuch sumed it up when Peter asked him if he understood what he was reading.(The Eunoch was reading from the scroll of Isaiah). The Eunuch replied to Peter "Really, how could I ever do so,unless someone guided me?"
It is one thing to read the Bible but another thing entirely to understand what you are reading. The fact you state that the Bible contradicts itself clearly shows you had no understanding of what you were reading and like the Ethopian Eunuch you need someone to guide you.
Jehovah's Witnesses have a accurate and thorough understanding of the Bible and would be only too happy to have a free home bible study with you if you so wished.Go the your local Kingdom Hall and ask there.

The Word of God is not for mans natural understanding. It must be discerned spiritually and if you are not in the Spirit of God then you will never understand it. Sorry it is a private club, but avalible to anyone willing to surrender to the TRUTH. There are parts for reproof and correction and there are parts for instruction. How would you ever know who or what it was talking to, and for what time unless you were seeing it with open eyes and heart? You should be able to discern, the Gospels with the measure of understand faith that you have. If not you are fighting the TRUTH. It can be painful to face reality sometimes that is for sure.

I am a Born Again Christian who also had doubts about
God and the Bible. When I was at the lowest time of my
life and had no place to turn, I opened my heart toJesus
and had a Spiritual Awakening, In an instant I became a
Born again Christian. Since then I accept Jesus as my Savior and now I have an unswerving Faith in the Bible and accept it as the Truth. For me, when I felt hopeless,
and had nowhere to turn, and no one to turn to I went to something I had read on a sign in front of a small Church
which said, "God turns no one away who asks for Him".

I suggest that you open your Heart and Mind to the possibility that since most of the people in the world
Believe in God, ask yourself, can they be all wrong?

Well for one today's society is NOT what God wants for this world....is it basically everything against God. The Bible stands true and for people who don't want to believe it and try to prove it wrong like you, thats your opinion and your beliefs. Christians are no better than anyone else and I am not claming to be, we live how we want to live and have FAITH that what the Bible says is true and you can live with the rest of society and find reasons as to why the Bible is the "stupidest book you've ever read". Heaven is not "floating clouds"....Heaven is so MAGNICIFICANT that in the bible it states that to be seen with the human and fathon it would be impossible. Maybe YOU don't want to spend your eternity with him, but I do...and so do other Christians...and it surly beats the other alternative of going to Hell and buring to death for all eternity. You cannot go to heaven, or understand the Bible or love God with out patience, love, and FAITH!! Don't critize Christians...WE DON'T CRITICIZE YOU!!!

You can believe or not but, for the most part (money grubbing TV evangelists aside) People that believe in the Bible are Good and Giving. We try to live up to being the best people we can be.
Some people in the Modern world don't have a clue to Human Compassion and/or Forgiveness it is all ME ME ME!. Instead of living a Wonderful Life they seem to be bitter, resentful, spiteful and MEAN!!
Contradictions or not... I prefer to live my life BELIEVING!

It seems to me you just proved the Bible by everything you wrote. There must be at least a thousand passages that describe you to a tee. Let me cite just one: "walk no longer as the Gentiles (unbelievers) walk, in the futility of their mind, being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God, because of the hardness of their heart; and having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality, for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness" How do I know? Been there - done that !

Than forget the bible! Just focus on Jesus, if anything just read GODS WORDS FROM HIS OWN LIPS (it's the red words in the New Testament).

The only truth is Jesus, and if you can lower your pride and admit that you're a sinner(as I am as well, probably a worse sinner than you) and admit that you need Jesus THAT'S IT!!!

Forget what everyone else is saying, forget what the church is saying, forget what Christians are saying, forget what Wiccans are saying , forget what Muslims are saying!

Just listen to Jesus.
