Problem with son and pets?

I'm so embarrassed but my pre-school son is obsessed, and I mean obsessed by animal butts. He grabs our pets and stares at their rear-end every chace he gets. He also has a little aggression toward one cat of ours. He holds the cat down by the nceck. Not to choke her, but to hold her still while he gets in her face and "talks" to her. Needless to say, the cat doesn't like it and I'm concerned he'll accidentally hurt her.
So if anyone has advice or has experienced this, please let me hear from you.
I'm not looking for mean replies about the animal butt issue. It's a real concern of mine. I could understand once or twice but it happens all the time. And yes, we've talked to him and even punished him for bothering the pets but he won't stop. I hope someone will tell me this is a "normal" preschool boy thing, or tell me what to do.
Thank you!

Your question reminded me of a book called, "Everyone Poops." It is a cute childrens book about, well, poop. I thought it was funny and just the kind of thing little boys (especially) would get a kick out of. I've googled a search for you where this book and others on the subject (there is one about farts, lolol) can be found. I think he's just interested in the poo and where it comes from. It's a guy thing... right... do males ever get over the humor of poo and farts? LOL.

As for the issue with the cat... it is something you really need to address. The cat CAN get hurt and it CAN also hurt your child. Cat bites can be really serious and Im sure you don't want to be faced with a situation where you are considering getting rid of the cat after a hospital stay because of a cat bite (or a scratch to the eye). Perhaps show your little boy what it FEELS like to be held down like that. Also demonstrate ON HIM how much nicer it is to be handled gently.
Then let him practice on you..... do a little purring and such... having fun acting like a happy cat and then let him do it too... He can be the cat while you "pet" him. Then tell him to be an UNHAPPY cat while you hold him down too hard. You both can have fun with this role playing and I think he will learn quickly.

Good luck.

I have 3 boys and 5 cats..lol, Its normal for them to do these things. They are curious. My almost 3 year old son right now tortures one certain cat . I have to really keep an eye on him because he tries to pick her up by the neck. Your son will grow out of it. My older 2 boys did the same things and they grew out of it. Even the animal butt thing is normal because he is curious. Dont worry.

this is, unfortunately, an normal preschool boy thing. I wouldn't worry about the cat getting hurt, when she's had enough she will let him know, and that may help him learn a lesson. The best way to stop the bottom obsession is to not get worked up over it, the extra attention he gets from misbehaving is keeping him interested. When you catch him looking, make him stop, wash his hands, and re-direct him. He will lose interest.

You're son is just curious and he's trying to play with the cats. He's young and probably doesn't understand that what he's doing is possibly bothering the cat. Try and tell him to be gentle with the cat but let him know he can still play with her. It's just a phase and he'll eventually grow out of it.

for the animals sake, take it away from him untill he is old enough to have pets. it is not fair for the animal to be tortured by a child growing up. just to let you know, it is not fair for the animal but your son is not doing anything wrong or abnormal. just give the animals to a nice home permently or just for a while.
