I keep trying to get downloads from band sites (i.e. Bad religion, The Dresden Dolls) but when they are completely buffered, what do I do? all they do is play. Shouldn't I be able to put them onto my mp3 player?

you should try downloading using a p2p programme. i myself is using ares and you can find lots of genre of song there which are downloadable and can be put into mp3 player. just type ares in the yahoo search and it will appear in the first in the list.

Yea try downloading P2P that way your subject to a RIAA lawyer suing your IP address for 10,000$ it always is a good idea.
Try using Urge or iTunes to download the music you want to hear and paying for it.
