We are here to learn, about ourselves, about each other, and about the things around us. We should learn to cherish, to listen, to respect, and to care. Each of us is different, and we should try to understand what makes us different, and embrace it. Above all we are here to learn love, and to share it.

Loving one another. Helping those in need of it and realizing that happiness is up to you. We all have the ability to be happy but many choose not to be. When you strip away the excess and focus on the small things then you can get to the root of happiness which is basically what I already states--loving and helping people.
I always tell my kids that the meaning of life is to be happy and then I list ways in which people can be happy.

We are meant to meet and love each other. We should learn as much as we can about the earth, man, art and even mathematics. We should never leave anything unsaid, we should never part when we are mad at each other because we do not know how long we are going to be in this world

That is not the same answer for everyone. Tell them that life has many meanings, and that they must find their own.
It's a fine educational time, to learn about world religions, if you want to take it down that path.
Remember, you dont have the right to tell them the meaning to their lives.

Tell them "the meaning of life is to take out the garbage" then hand them the garbage bag and point them towards the door.
