I strongly recommend to learn something more about the Japanese language.... you will met some Japanese people in the same flight...

Personally, after the first meal service, I like to go to the back of the plane and chitchat with the crew (assuming they're not busy, of course). You learn many interesting things from them, no matter where they're based out of. They'll also appreciate the fact that you're treating them like a fellow human being who's also stuck in a metal tube for 14 hours. I've killed many hours chatting this way.

Plan B is my laptop, complete with Tivo-to-Go, DVDs, and general work stuff. I also can sleep if I wanted to (I can sleep through landings, if you can believe that).

But definitely feel free to make new friends... that way, you'll have a more enjoyable flight, and you won't be thinking about the fact that no widebody aircraft in history has ever made a successful water landing (and that those lifevests are just there for show).

Bon voyage!

First thing you want to do to alleviate the effects of jet lag is adjust your mental clock from the current time to the time in Tokyo. Don't forget to keep yourself hydrated: those long trips will dry you out.

Things I've done flying to Tokyo include:

Read a book or magazine
Eat the inflight meals
Watch the inflight movies
Talk to passengers or cabin crew
Walk to the lavatory and back
Play cards
Play video games (handheld or on the inflight entertainment system, when available)
Finish the puzzle in the inflight magazine (the big crossword puzzles are good timewasters)
Take a Dramamine and sleep the entire flight

are you flying alone? you can get travel games that are mini versions of the original and magnetic so you don't have to worry about turbulence. they should show a couple movies, depending on the length of your flight and you can walk around to stretch your legs. if you are traveling with very little children you can take bubbles - although with new flight restrictions this may not be allowed. also, bring books and magazines. but with all the preparation, if the flight is longer than three hours, you will be bored :)

if you are going to Japan on a flight ? you will not be bored
after you are in high altitude , you get served some meal, depending on the hours , it takes a while
you have your own screen to look at ........music ,radios or other things to look at .......
take some books ,puzzles or anything you may like ?
some people like to talk with others ?
time will pass fast ........enjoy the scenery .......
walk around a bit ........take a snooze .............before you know it ? you will be at destination ))
