Did you blame yourself? (former drug use, not taking care of yourself enough during pregnancy, etc) Your spouse? Did it ever cause tension between you two? Can you describe a little about what you personally went through because of it? Were you ever ashamed? Or maybe just worried about how it would effect your child's life?

My first daughter is mentally retarded. She is almost 13 now, and I have never blamed myself. I drank a little before I knew I was pregnant, but other than that I did everything right. I took prenatal vitamins, went to all my check-ups, ate right, didn't do drugs..wouldn't even take Tylenol. Sometimes God gives you a gift you don't expect, or one that is different from the one you assume you're going to get. I know I have never been ashamed of her. She is a wonderful girl that has made our lives brighter. Any struggles we have had, have been with other family members that were in denial about her handicap. I know raising my daughter has given me strength I did not know I had, and taught me the meaning of unconditional love.

My son has a mild form of Autism. Aspergers Syndrome. Its very mild though and no I dont blame myself. Its genetic. A couple of others on my husbands side of the family have it also. Definitley not ashamed of it. I do worry about his future sometimes because of his social skills with people. Other than that he is normal. Just problems concentrating in school, etc...but higher IQ. So Im a little worried, but not too much.

3 of my 6 children have small imperfections on their skin in various places. Nothing big and nothing real noticable. They are almost always covered. The kicker here... These are the three that I smoked a little with. I know that's the reason. Yes, it makes me guilty even though the spots are hidden 99% of the time. If they start to make them self concious I will pay to have them removed.
