First, rest. (that's usually the toughest!) Gargle with salt water - one heaping teaspoon to a glass of warm water - 5 times a day. Do NOT gargle with mouthwash - it strips your throat. See a doctor, as it could be strep - if it is, then forget singing. Wear a scarf (muffler, if you're American) at all times. Breathe through your nose - mouth breathing dries the throat. Don't do rough throat-clearing, it'll make it worse. Inhale metholyptus vapours if possible. If you want to practice your singing, just hum it. Practising in your head is good practice - you don't HAVE to vocalize the notes. Now, take two aspirin and go to bed!

First thing is:
Rest your voice. After a show don't talk drink lots of water and sleep well. More you can sleep more your voice will rest.
For your sore throat:
Herbal tea is a good choice, Chamomile is a good one, or roots teas like Ginger and lemon is excellent.
You can go to the drug store and buy any Thera Flu tea for cold and flu and they are really good.
Other thing is, take at least 2,000 mg of Vitamin C. 500 mg every three hours. Vitamin C will kill that flu in 48 hours.
Finally, after your performances. Take a break. Do not sing or talk for 2 or three days, this way your vocal chords will be completely rested. After 2 or three days of no talking or singing, start vocalizing a little bit for short periods. (10 or 15 minutes, 2 or 3 times a day).
Hope this help

I learned this from Paul Harvey the news commentator, get some zinc lozenges at WalMart. They will knock out a cold and sore throat fast. Or at least it won't last as long....
Just suck on the lozenge and the zinc will coat your throat and soothe it. Plus, you know, take a lot of liquids like water, orange juice and apple juice. Eat a few bananas along as well for the potassium. You'll be better in no time.
Good luck with those performances, the show must go on! Bruce

gargle with warm salt water and drink lemon and honey tea, just warm up some water, squeeze lemon juice, add honey and Mmmm, good.
don't use your voice too much either, rest it, your throat is probably tired too which left it vunerable and susceptible. use your voice as little as possible.
clear your throat by making a "woooooo" sound. it's not really good to do the traditional "ahem" clearing even when you're not sick. take a deep breath, and go "wooooo" really fast

drink a lot of hot drinks in the morning and water throughout the day. limit your eating and drinking of milk products (like milk, chocolate, etc...) because they will cause mucas to clog your throat, along with soda. for a hot drink, get some hot or warm water and stir in some jello mix and drink up: tastes good!
