i think he was afraid of meeting your family. you just have to show him theres nothers to worry about.

maybe introduce him to your family members slowly. all at once might be intimidating. have him meet a sibling first, and then maybe mom or dad. If he meets them before hand then he will have more people to talk to when the big event takes place. i really think that could help. but he should really go if you matter a lot to him

he might think that he would be comitted to you. how lond have you been going out for? if it is a short time, he just may not be ready
