We call our female golden retriever "Baby" because of her sweet personality but her name should have been "Reduce To Trash" because that's what happened to anything she got hold of until she was about 3 years old. We're talking about sheetrock, wood and metal trim, linoleum, carpet, treated wood, electrical wires (getting shocked didn't stop her). She stole anything soft and took it outside too. Was so smart and housebroken at 7 weeks old though and really good with children. Even "Bitter Apple didn't deter the chewing. If you have a puppy, keep your dog challenged because Golden's are really intelligent.

Hmmmmmmmmmm tough one, how can a girls name not sound girly? Maybe you could use a powerful female name like Athena or one of the other greek goddesses. Their names are all unique and not too girly.

I like to give all of my dogs named that reflect their championship lineages as well as their titles. For instance, my champion AKC Obedience golden, with 29 titles and 20 generations of champion bloodlines, her hame is Ch Miss Ginger's Chinese Memory of Jake, OTCH (obedience trial championx27). But I love the name Alice Rose for a golden. That would be my next golden's name.

Goldie Locks would be really cute! Unless you want a name like Alice, there is nothing you can name a female dog that doesn't sound "girlie."

I think cassey would be a good name. It isn't so girlie and yet it fits a good name for a golden retriever.

I've dealt with a problem similar before-when i was in eighth grade my little sister wanted to name our collie puppy "Cutie Pie." My parents, after a long day of arguing, decided on "Cinnamon Pie." None of my choices were included in that but we call her Cinnamon
