Jewish bris is performed by a Rabbi on a eight day old male child. In essence it is a very important ceremony that circumcises the male child, offering him to God. For those of us who are Christians, the bible says that natural circumcision is not necessary because our hearts become circumcised supernaturally when we accept Christ as our Savior. All Jewish males must be circumcised. There is a very nice dinner and celebration accompanying the procedure. I am not Jewish, but I was invited to the bris of a good friend's child. Mazeltoff! (That's Yiddish for Congratulations!)

A circumcision according to Jewish custom. It happens 8 days after the birth of a baby boy and is performed by a mohel. Usually a Hebrew name for the newborn will be announced. This customs dates back to Abraham and is very significent is the Jewish faith.

the bris is the removal of the male child's foreskin at the ceremony called the bris when the male child reaches the age of eight days old. the bris is performed by a man who follows the jewish laws regarding male children and is a very formal, and important cewremony for both parents and child to be accepted as one of god's chosen.
in most american hospitals, male children are "clipped" almost immediately after birth. it is not as with the jewish tradition, but strictly for sanitary purposes to prevent health problems later.
in most countries, there is no such act performed when a child is born.

Its a Jewish baby boy's circumcision ceremony, performed by a mohel with a rabbi present. Prayers are said, and the baby is given a tiny sip of wine. Its all done so very quickly and carefully that often the baby doesn't even cry.

Jewish ritual circumcision. Personally I don't see how this can be considered humane in any way.
