Prescriptions are usually good for 1 year. If you use a high traffic pharmacy they probably rotate their stock pretty quickly. When a bottle of medicine is recieved in the pharmancy it could expire in a year or maybe 3, it depends on that perticular medicine. For safety reasons they say medicine should only be kept for a year. As a medication ages it could get "stronger" or get "weaker" and not knowing what way your medication will "go" you should always use the one year rule.

on your prescription bottle it should tell you how long the medication is good for. has a expiration date usually on the bottom right of the label. if expired flush the pills down the toilet and toss the bottle.
