Paula, is this the dachshund that you haven't even yet potty trained? Is this the one who came from the "bad breeder" in your other post?
Either way, a big part of breeding is knowledge of dogs and knowledge of your breed. If you don't know how to potty train a dog and you don't know how to spell dachshund, this tells me that you aren't involved with your breed club or showing the dog or even really having puppies.
An ethical breeder doesn't breed simply because they can or because they have a purebred or AKC dog. AKC and purebred dogs can still have a host of genetic issues and standard deviations that an untrained eye cannot see. Breeding such dogs is irresponsible and leads to dogs being killed in shelters.
If you are serious about breeding your dog, then you need to join your local doxie club and go from there. You also need to do some research on being an ethical breeder. But if this *is* the same dog that was bought from a "bad" breeder, then the dog should be neutered as soon as he's old enough to prevent passing on those bad genetics.
Good luck to you and I hope you'll come to an ethical and responsible decision.

Sounds like you think you have a pedigree there that you need to breed in order to advance the bloodline. Before you decide to breed a dog get some basic information on breeding from a reputable breeder, if they will even talk to you. Or at least get your dog examined by a vet and ask him that question. Then visit a local shelter and see how many homeless dogs are there because people were ignorant, lazy or just didn't care that they allowed their dogs to breed. For every 10 dogs there, maybe three will find homes, for the remainder, R.I.P.

If you don't know, don't breed him. Leave it to the professionals.
It's breeding like this that causes so many genetic problems in dogs.

You have no business breeding a breed of dog that you can't even spell, especially when there are already so many homeless dogs. It's DACHSHUND, btw. Have your dog neutered instead.

Male dogs are much more tolerable if they have been fixed.
The amount of aggrivation you save from doing it will surpass the money. Get a job instead.

At least 1 1/2 years old. Please be a responsible breeder and only breed if this dog is breed standard and champion titled.
