Pups are either super excited to go for walks, or, in your case, a bit weary because they are frightened and unsure of the world around them. Encourage him to walk with you, and do not expect him to go too far. Keep him on your left side and urge him along. Go a bit longer every day. Do not let him win if he hesitates to go home, keep him moving. Sometimes walking with another dog he knows is a good helper. Be patient and have fun!

Regardless of if he wants to go or not, you have to teach him he has too. Hes a puppy and probably just scared new sights, sounds and smells. Basically a whole new world he is unfamiliar with.
Are you trying to walk him on a busy street with lots of traffic or kids and people? Try walking him somewhere quieter like a park or side street.
If he keeps laying down while your trying to take him out be patient with him and do NOT let him have his way. If you take him back inside your just teaching him if he fights you he will get his way and thats always a bad thing.
Be patient, pet him, talk to him reassure him its ok. He will get back up and explore when hes ready. Try staying in your yard and letting him sniff around for a while and explore. He will get bolder as time goes on and want to wander further and further.

you have to be patient, take lots of treats & reward him for good behavior. my puppy hates walking on a leash, but he does better everytime i take him. you just have to keep doing it. right now he just wants to run and play, but he'll settle down as he gets older and realize that just walking with you and getting to sniff & look around is fun too. If this is your second question that you've had here I would seriously consider getting some puppy training manual & maybe looking into a puppy class at your local humane society. I have done both and would recommend both options to everyone who has dogs.

sounds like he is bored with the same old spot. all dogs are curious drive him to the park and show him how to sniff the air through a cracked window. go to a city park, lots of other dogs pee there. he'll get curious again. associate the leash jingling to bye by in the car. you can't jingle anything in my house w/ my dogs jumping up ready to go bye by. try a halter instead of a collar. they are better to train with for walking more control without choking them. mine won't walk on a collar although the have wore them. good luck arouse his curiosity.and if he's been w/ his bros and sisses for 3 months he may be missing them maybe a trip to see some old friends will do.

Try just having him wear a short leash around the house in order to get him used to it. Once he does, then try it in the yard until he is then used to that.
This shouldn't take too long, just a matter of getting comfortable with it. Our puppy wasn't crazy about it either, but I started using clicker training to teach her to walk nicely on the leash and she got it quickly.

A lab that doesn't want to go for a walk???? wow that is odd! My black lab LOVES his walks!!!! Have you tried jogging with him? Or taking him to different locations to walk? Maybe team up with a friend, relative, or neighbor who has a dog and walk your dogs together. Be creative and don't stress out, have fun trying new things. good luck
