Everything is conjecture except for maybe some people who have actually died and been revived.

Most religious people would rather kill than be told there is no heaven or hell, and so they forcibly tell us their convictions that there is heaven and hell. Deep down they don't even know.

There are many Scriptures that help us to see what happens to us when we die.
Animals and people experience the same thing as stated at Ecclesiates 3:19,20--"For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again."
Psalm 146:4--"His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish."
Eccl 9:5--"For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten." (This means that people still living cannot help those who die, they cannot reward them and eventually the memory of those who die are forgotten. They are not forgotten by God though for he holds all those who die in his memory and soon all will be resurrected back to life. The fact that we do not dwell on those who die is helpful so that death is not something thought about constantly, for if that were to happen, who could stand the pain of losing loved ones? God helps us to cope with our sadness this way. )
Eccl 9:10--"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."(This also helps us to see that the dead feel neither pain nor pleasure)
Death is likened to being asleep. Psalm 13:3--"Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death."
Because of Jesus sacrificing his life for us, death is a temporary condition and those who are now sleeping in death will be brought back to life here on earth. Jesus himself will do this-- "I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man. "Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out—"(John 5:25-29) NIV
I hope this helps you to see what the Bible teaches us regarding death.

You don't get to know what happens when you die because you're not God.

Not everything is conjecture because if you read the Bible, you would know that there is heaven and hell, as has been mentioned explicitly numerous times. Unless you are an atheist or agnostic, you have to believe in a Supreme Being who made you. If you do, then you may have noticed that all religions preach a place where people go when they die. This is the essence of faith, believing in something you cannot yet prove. Some people deny the existence of hell but would readily embrace the concept of heaven, or if not, just a nice place we go to when we die. Why? Because people don't want the concept of punishment so they can continue living their lives the way they want without having to answer for anything. And when they die, they hope they have a merciful God who can forgive them anything, forgetting that God's mercy is also tempered with God's justice.

I do know that there is a heaven and a hell. I just can't prove it to you anymore than you can prove to me that these places don't exist. There is one fact here, 100% of all people will die. So, what happens after we die? Well, we all have a take on that now don't we. Here' s the thing. Of all the theories out there, one of them must be right. I have saught this out for a long time and have come to believe in God and His word. Some have chosen to "believe" in evolution (since it can't be proven, you must believe in it), or reincarnation, etc. I hope that you seek out truth as well, and I also hope that you find it. Because our "beliefs" mean nothing compared to the truth. The truth is what will actually happen no matter what we "believe". Can I stand in front of a bullet that was just shot out of a gun and say that I don't believe it can hurt me? Will that make it true? Of coarse not!

Once we die, we are dead. The Bible explains the state of the dead, that as I said, once we die, we are dead, because If we went to Heavan right after we died, Heaven would be Hell, and hell would be torture. Imagine looking down on Earth in Heaven, seeing your wife have romantic, sexual feelings for another man. Imagine seeing your loved ones, children, wife, friends, anyone you hold dear in secrete, sering pain. God is a God of love, and once you've lived, died, and God has decided you are to go to live in Heaven with Him for eternity, why in the world would He allow his cildren to suffer all over again? He wouldn't. He will come again soon, and that day is soon. Be ready, for the end time is near. Also, it's called Faith. Beleive it.

God bless, and I will pray for you :)

Dear grey Box head, there is a way that we can know that there is a afterlife and heaven and hell and a way that we can know where were going. I would like to ask you a few questions..............
Would you consider yourself to be a good person?

Have you ever lied (even once--fibs, white lies, etc.)? Ever stolen (anything--the value is irrelevant)? Jesus said, "Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her, has committed adultery already with her in his heart." Have you ever looked with lust? If you have said "Yes" to these three questions, by your own admission, you are a lying, thieving, adulterer at heart; and the BIble says "he who hates his brother is a murderer." have you ever hated someone? Your consicence bears wittness to the fact that its wrong to do these things, soon the day of Judgement would you be innocent or guilty? You know that you will be guilty, and the Ible says the penalty for your sin is death and Hell. That’s not God’s will. He provided a way for you and I to be forgiven.
He sent His Son to take our punishment: "God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." He was bruised for our iniquities. Jesus then rose from the dead and defeated death.
Your own so-called “goodness” can’t get you into heaven any more than mine could. Jesus is the only way to Heaven. He is the "Door," the only "mediator." There is salvation in no other name and If you will repent (turn from sin) and place your faith and trust in Jesus, God will forgive you and grant you the gift of everlasting life. Thisnis the ultimate challenge to any skeptic. either this is true or its not, But I would hope for the sake of your eternal saoul you will look into this and get your heart right with the Lord today.
God Bless

I have died and come back. This may sound like foolishness but it's true. I was in a coma for a time and my heart stopped beating until they could get me on the heart lung machine. I have died and come back. God is real and so is Jesus. This I know for a fact. You believe what you like but this I know. I witness for God every chance I get now because of what I know to be fact...

Can you imagine if you DID know. Like for instance, if you knew that dying was the best thing that can happen to you because you go to heaven and everything is the best there.

or

that dying means that you are lifeless until the end of time, under the sun, eventually you'll be dust.

I think I would rather not know and wait.......... but somehow it must not be a good thing to die because we all fear it!

It's a mystery.

Religious people have their belief so they can put a picture to it and visualize it (heaven) and ease the fear of dying that some people have.

The answers lie clearly in the Bible for anyone who wants to look for them to learn what happens after death.
The Bible does not teach that all good people go to heaven nor does the Bible teach that there is a fiery place of torment.
Eccl.9:5 tells us "For the living are conscious that they will die,but as for the dead they are conscious of nothing at all."
At Gen.3:19 Jehovah told Adam after he has sinned: "In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return."
There is also the account of the death of Jesus' friend Lazarus found at John 11:11-14 "......'Lazarus our friend has gone to rest, but I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep'.Therefore the disciples said to him:'Lord,if he has gone to rest,he will get well'Jesus had spoken, however, about his death. But they imaged he was speaking about taking rest in sleep. At that time, therefore,Jesus said to them outspokenly:'Lazarus has died'"
From the above verses it can be seen that death is likened to a deep sleep where one is not aware of anything around him,nor can he feel, say or do anything
Acts. 24:15 gives us a wonderful hope where it says "there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous".So until God's appointed time when He will rid the earth of all wickedness and usher in his righteous new system,all those asleep in death remain in His memory(Dan.2:44;Rev.21:3,4;
John5:28)

I don't know if I'd want to know. It's a catch-22 situation, I'd be afraid to know, but I'd also be afraid to find out what's out there.
As Hamlet says: " . . .that the dread of something after death, / The undiscovered country from whose bourn / No traveler returns, puzzles the will / And makes us rather bear those ills we have / Than fly to others that we know not of?"
