OK. We know him as Jesus. It is likely he was known by the Hebrew name Yehoshua or the shortened Hebrew/Aramaic Yeshua or Jeshua. Scholars believe that one of these was most likely the name that Jesus was known by during his lifetime by his peers.

Christ (which is a title and not a part of his name) is an Anglicization of the Greek term for Messiah, and literally means "anointed one".
As far as the "H" goes, click the link below for an explanation.

You know, they barely had last names back then, because tribes were small. Usually a person was known by the first name, and the town they came from. Jesus of Nazareth for instance.

Silly question...but its just begging for a historically correct answer, so here goes:

He didnt have one. Back then people didnt even have last names, but were known by either their parent's names (Son of...), their occupation (...the tax collector), or where they were from (Jesus of Nazareth) so he was just Jesus.

He is sometimes referred to as Jesus H. Christ, but I don't know what the "H" stands for, darn it. Oh, I just remembered--its "Herkimer." Named after a mysterious FOURTH wiseman!

I'm pretty sure that's it's Haitch. Years ago I used to hear that a lot. People would say, "Jesus Haitch Christ!" especially if they were excited.
