Photoshop Elements rocks! I've had it since the first version. I just upgraded, and I love the new features! Go to adobe.com to find it.

Photoshop elements is $89.99 from Adobe. $69.99 to upgrade from a previous version.

Photoshop CS2 is $649.00 new or $169.00 to upgrade. You can download a trial version free, though.

Photoshop Elements its under a hundred dollars. It does much of what Photoshop does and the new version of elements has features that older Photoshops don't.

I agree with Terisu. My sister is a graphic artist and she said that she doesn't think she'd spend the money on "real" Photoshop any more, since Elements has been such a complete program, staring with version 3.0.

There are dozens of copies of new, unused Photoshop Elements 4.0 on eBay for $40.00. I guess they are retailers trying to unload old stock now that 5.0 is out.

For instance:

I've been using Photoshop since 1997 and I would never recommend it to anyone because of the price. It's one of my favorite programs (illustrator is my favorite), but most casual users don't even need it.

The two programs that I recommend are:
"Adobe Photoshop Elements" (and)
"Corel Paint Shop Pro"

They both provide free trial downloads. So, try them out for yourself.

The latest CS and CS2 are the best... I don't really know if CS is cheaper but what I know is there is almost no difference between CS and CS2...
