My mom was/is a STRANGE cook. Some things were really good. She didn't do desserts at all, any kind, and she put green peppers and onions in almost everything. Her baked beans and potato salad and homemade vegetable soup have always been wonderful. Some of her experiments were less so--chopped-up octopus (or was it squid?) in the turkey stuffing was memorable.
Her second husband loves greasy meats and won't eat much else, but she likes salad and steamed vegetables and things, so nowadays her cooking is kind of schizo--necessary to feed them both. ;~D

Probably my mother's french toast. Like yours, my mom burnt everything that went into the oven for dinner, but for breakfast her french toast was without parallel. Probably putting cinnamon and vanilla into the egg batter helped, but I'm not sure what else did. I do know that part of the draw was that we put maple syrup and whipped cream on our french toast, and occasionally the peaches you can buy with cinnamon and brown sugar in the can. I don't think I'll ever with a clear conscience be able to go that calorically high again, but when I was eight it was pure heaven.

My mum is still a good cook. The best thing I think she has ever made is homemade baked macaroni and cheese. My mouth waters just thinking about it. Also, her cookies seem to turn out better than anybody's. They are always made just right; not overcooked and not undercooked.

My mom cooks just a few dishes and they are all her own creations. She dosent cook alot but when she does it's very yummy :)
She makes vegetarian chicken pie, Meatloaf with only hamburger and no sausage, and something called 'sh*t on a shingle' among other things.

My mom's a great cook. When my Dad was overseas in Vietnam, she worked for an Italian restaurant and learned all their recipes. So, I grew up having the most amazing spaghetti, italian beef, you name it. It wasn't just Italian though ... she can make almost anything taste wonderful.

My mom was an awesome cook and baker. Her pyrohy (Ukrainian perogies) were awesome. Loved her baked buns and apple pie. Fave was her pampushky (kind of like Ukrainian doughnuts with sweet poppyseed filling).

My mom likes to cook up trouble, does that count?
Really though, her cooking is just so-so but she can bake like nobody's business. She makes a crumb cake that would make your eyes water.

My Mom's homemade tortillas...the aroma of them, soft and hot, with drizzling butter, I would stand by the stove for the first one and she would make it small enough for me to handle.Child size. Then she'd butter it for me and mmmmmmmmmm, I've never tasted anything else that brought me that much pleasure. She's still a terrific cook.

My mom is still a good cook. My favorite dish that she makes is her stuffing actually. Nothing like a good stuffing made with the gizzards. MMMmmm
