Faced with reports of violence toward Jews in Nazi Germany, "the Mormon Church did almost nothing," says The Salt Lake Tribune. Some Mormons, along with members of other churches, "were entranced by Hitler and his message of racial purity, and there were those who thought they were obeying their church's teaching to honor state leaders." During the Holocaust the German sector of the Mormons "did what most of the churches did; the leaders went along," said Professor Franklin Littell of Temple University, Philadelphia. Douglas Tobler, professor of history at Brigham Young University, wants to examine "the church's failure to take an institutional stand against Nazism," the paper said. Interestingly, the Tribune observed that historian John S. Conway, of the University of British Columbia, Canada, said that the only religious organization that absolutely refused to follow the Nazis was Jehovah's Witnesses. He added that for this more than half were sent to concentration camps.

"Thanks for the history lesson"

No problem.

"So let me ask you a question, What is your point???????? No really, what is your point? who cares what the mormons did?"

I did not make a POINT, I asked a QUESTION. Did they really do this? See the question mark?

"They are a cult of misfits who would follow Joseph Smith and B.Young to the pitts of hell. They have been taken in by this false prophet, so I can understand why they would be taken in by hitler, as so many others were!"

True.

"And as far as the JW's go, they are as lost as the mormons."

Now what's your point? Why you say Jehovah's Witnesses are lost? They never done anything wrong, never heard of a Jehovah's Witness robbing a store or killing people. What's your POINT. As you used a period at the end of your statement.

Around the globe, Jehovah's Witnesses respect the governments and flags under which they live. However, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that ultimate "allegiance" can only promised to Almighty God. Witnesses practice strict political and nationalistic neutrality.

Jehovah's Witnesses understand the bible to teach that Almighty God requires exclusive devotion; that is, he requires that worship and unrestricted allegiance belong to Him alone.

(Exodus 20:5) I Jehovah your God am a God exacting exclusive devotion

(Matthew 4:10) Then Jesus said... ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’

Of course, Jehovah's Witnesses are well-known as law-abiding persons. The Scriptures also teach that obedience is owed to secular governments, which the bible calls "the superior authorities". Of course, such subjection is RELATIVE to the unrestricted allegiance which is owed to God.

(Romans 13:1) Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God

(Acts 5:29) We must obey God as ruler rather than men

It may be helpful for non-Witnesses to read all of Daniel chapter 3, and note the connections between the ceremony described there and modern pledge of allegiance.

Here is an awesome book that will help answer your question.
"Three Against Hitler" by Rudi Wobbe. The true story of three Latter-day Saint / Mormon (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) teenagers who stood up to Hitler and his system, to the point that one of them paid for it with his life. It was such a fascinating read that I could not put it down. I read it to my grandmother before she died. As for an official Church position, I believe that it is best said that we believe in obeying and honoring the laws of the land where we live, wherever we live, but in the case of very young Mormons - such as Seventy Elder Enzio Busche who was around age 10 to 14 during World War II, he said the propaganda that was put out by the German government was extremely limiting. You have to realize that the Germans kept trying to block outside information from getting in to their own people, telling them that they were always victorious when really there were shortages and losses more often than not. I am impressed by integrity wherever we can find it, and if you have any books by Jehovah's Witnesses who went to the concentration camps for their stand, I would love to read those as well and add them to my copy of "Three Against Hitler." Let me know if you want a copy of "Three Against Hitler" and I'll send you one, or check out the link below - you can do a search for the book by the title. Have a happy day.

You have really answered your own question. Most of the people in Germany went along with the Nazis at the time, regardless of their religious beliefs. Equally, most western governments also sat by and refused to allow Jewish people to seek asylum in their countries. There were many politicians and public figures who agreed with many of Hitler's policies, including the former king of England and John F Kennedy's father.

This is one of the reason why I somewhat respect Jehovah's witness...they may follow a religion based on superstition, but at least they follow the moral values they preach.

The three Abrahamic religions are false, none the less.

Sadly, many churches did nothing. I don't know specifically about the Mormons but I wouldn't be surprised, just because so many otherwise good people stood by and let the horrors happen.

I read that also. All the religions went along with the nazi rulers.
That Jehovah's Witnesses was imprisioned and killed some starved to death. They are non-violent they won't fight in wars.
Or take sides in politics.
