She told you because she does not want to do this thing. She told you knowing that you'd help her not do it EVEN if that means telling a parent or counselor or some other adult. That's what she asked of you, otherwise she would not have told you at all.
It's a tough place for you, but don't feel like you're betraying her. At some level, that's exactly what she wants you to do. Get her help.

This is one occasion when you need to break her confidence. If she saw a counselor they would tell someone too.
She needs help people cut themselves because they have a problem. I mean mental illness like depression. I don't know how old she is but if she is at school tell a tutor. If she is older then a counselor or a mental health clinic. If you leave it it will get worse.
Don't feel bad about telling someone. It is for her own sake and she will get over it.

I'm sorry for your friend, really. I think that the best is to talk to a hotline service for suicidal people; they might help you. As for my advice, I think you need to be there for your friend no matter what. Don't let her be by herself. Even if you don't talk to her, just listen to her; make her understand that you matters to her. Go out with her often and above all tell her that if she ever feel near suicide to call you and talk a bit to ease her pains. Good luck.

You must tell someone, that is the only way to help her, otherwise if anything happens you will think about it for the rest of your life.
