can i bring a staighting iron in my carry on bag on an airplane?

Yes. I brought a curling iron and had no problem. Your bag will go though an ex ray machine and it shouldn't cause any alarm on the part of security personnel.

As far as I know yes. I have recently taken a small DVD player and there was not a problem with that. It is only large containers that is the main problem.
