I saw this article in People magazine today, but I looked it up online in case you aren't able to look in the magazine.

Don't worry, it's not a long read. Check out the following link, and let me know your opinions on the story. Do you think he was in the wrong? Is the fear of being deported worth taking someone's life?

The companies shouldn't hire these people, but this scares me! It could've been one of us.

Can you say "Death Penalty, then deportation" in a pine box

This article goes to prove some people will do anything to avoid "what the real truth" MAY BE...the killer is/was a man with a hot temper. True, he may not have wanted to face deportation after the killing...but someone "in their right mind" would have thought about that before they did what he did.

RE: Is deportation worth taking someone's life

I believe the opposite. That people who take someone's life should be deported and lose their citizenship for life. Whether born here or not, anyone who commits a crime of violence, especially using a firearm, should lose their right to live in this country for the length of their prison sentence, which they can serve over the border. That is the strongest deterrent I know to stop lawless behavior. The only exception I would offer is for people who confess to their crimes, and who openly cooperate with authorities and with the victims or survivors of their crimes, may request to serve their sentences in the U.S. I would use this added condition so that families or friends of criminal offenders might encourage them to come forward instead of running from the law, which would make their penalties worse.

So in place of convicts who have abused their rights and freedoms to violate those of others, there can be slots opened up for immigrants to become new citizens or guest workers for the same amount of time, who want to be law-abiding productive members of society, and who respect the laws, and value the rights, freedoms, and privileges people have in this country.

I believe such a prison exchange will enforce good citizenship based on civil behavior instead of nationality, and will do more to deter crime, to encourage respect for the law, and to solve multiple problems with both immigration and criminal corrections.

Let you know if I think he was in the wrong!
What happened is just horrible.
I don't think fear of being deported, is worth killing an innocent person for.
The story speaks for itself.

Wow.. talking about having a really bad day.
It could have been anyone that killed this woman, but it was someone who was here illegally. He covered it up so he wouldn't be found out.. again, sounds like what anyone else would have done who killed her.
This is a very fine line here, and I can't stress that enough.
Would our country be more sane, if we did away with all illegals. I'd like to think so.. or at best, realize that we'd have to put up with our own crazies. I am NOT making light of this by any means, promise. But if it had been someone else that killed her, would we try to answer this, would we have even known about it..
I honestly hope that this man who did do it, is punished.. just like anyone else would be, had they done it.

Yes he was wrong - murder is wrong - being in the country illegally is wrong . The means does not justify the ends no matter what your sob story is.

He is just looking for a bleeding heart defense. Now he gets to spend his life in the US prison system.

All illegals should be deported. They are invading the United States by using their increasing population. If the U.S government officials are stupid enough to allow the invasion of the illegals, the official language of the U.S will soon become Spanish.

they should not let the illegals stay. they need to pass the law now to where all illegals must leave. if caught they will spend time in prison 6 years, and deported back. this country is letting to many animals run free.
the illegals are no better then the tarriest.

This is a fine example of why these illegal aliens need to go home and stay there.

Spend the rest of your life in prison...the illegal immigrant part really is irrelevant.
